    :woot:
A family friend wants to turn part of our land into a shooting range (his daughter is a competitive shooter), between the two of us we have the equipment (Dozers, dump trucks, excavator, skid steer, etcetera) and he's starting to invest in the targets, he's looking at getting a dueling tree (local guy on the gun forums makes some, great prices and everybody loves his products), a plate rack, and possibly some bigger steel targets.

Gonna be pretty set up with that stuff for pistol range so I'm looking at getting an 8" and 12" gong for 100 and 200 yard ranges, not sure how interesting they will be though, 4" gong is boring at 100 yards with my suppressed .22 rifle.

Pulley set up with hanging targets and a small motor to move it for a challenge :)

But try to build the range in a way you can get some three-gun style courses set up IMO. So can go from 25 yard out to the 200yard in a "run"

    OOHHH, good idea.

The way I'd like to get it set up is the pistol/carbine range on the right side of the creek, just south of the road, maybe 20 yards wide and 50 yards deep, and then a rifle range with just simple shooting lanes and a covered shooting area between the creek and where we're building the pond.

    Sounds like a good plan!

The moving targets im sure theres plenty of options. But makes it nice instead of just shooting stationary targets all the time!

The "pistol length" refers to the gas system. In my experience, 300BLK likes running through a shorter gas system due to higher pressure at higher volume. There were a lot of people that were getting cycling issues when 300BLK was the new hot shit for everyone to build and it was because of varying gas systems and buffer weights that weren't compatible. The pistol gas system lets the upper eat whatever ammo you put through it without fiddling with anything else. I researched a lot before building mine and that's what I came up with. Someone with more experience can correct me if I'm wrong.

To answer your question, you can mount it on any standard lower (pistol or rifle) an be GTG.

Outstanding thanks a bunch that actually makes a lot of sense. My plan for this upper is really just to plink and mainly hunting. I live in CT and hunt in an industrial/kinda residential area and would love to possibly hunt suppressed one day, it's totally legal to hunt with a rifle where I am but I just figure it would be better if no one knew I was there, kinda like a fart in the wind hahaha thanks again

The first time I fired my 300BLK (unsupressed) using subsonic ammo I thought I had a misfire because it was so quiet. It was one of my first builds so I though for sure I fucked something up. Took the whole thing apart on the bench and found no problems so I ran 2 more mags through it with a shit-eating grin. Can't imagine how quiet they are suppressed.

Making a little progress on the shooting range, from the edge of the entrance from the road to the edge of where I stopped bush hogging is 35 yards, I cut one lane (10’ wide) about 60 yards back, gonna do more clearing and then start making the backstops with the brush in clearing and then covering it all with dirt.

    Don’t forget the Methican-Americans
We have a lot of pines, clay (the pond we’re digging out is all clay after the first 6”) and a fair amount of sand.

Gonna be clearing a few acres of pines, build a pole barn, and plant some oaks around the area.
