When putting shorter belt on, the head of my ratchet was hitting the fan clutch so I couldn’t get the tensioner to move far enough.

I took off the fan clutch nuts and just let it sit inside the shroud and that provided enough room for the ratchet to swing. Made the belt easy to put on vs. fighting with it.

Trust me, I tried to avoid taking it off. Messed around with the belt for 30 minutes with no joy.

It took about 2 minutes to take the 4 nuts off the fan clutch. Once clutch was out of the way I had the belt on in like 2 minutes.

I am living proof that it is possible to spend more time trying to skip a step than you would spend if you just do the step to begin with.

I used OEM. I’m sure the Victor Reinz stuff from the LAPS would work fine.

Nothing wrong with them. Going colder is optional. If you’re going all out w/ upgrades, I’d do the colder plugs while you have it all apart. Sell the other ones new in the box and get some of your money back.

Ok so I got it on, the fan clutch made literally a 1/5 of an inch difference, practically nothing and me and my girlfriend went beastmode and got it on. Jesus h christ

Pedal response is a bit nicer for sure but I dont think I picked up any power. So worth it though

Also I found I sheared one of my front valve cover bolts some how :/

NAPA Victor Reinz gaskets for me. They are working fine.

Since adding the smaller belt I am getting semi consistent bog down/buck when I increase throttle semi-rapidly or to as fast as possible

Try increasing throttle slowly until boost starts...then punch it and see if it still happens. I think the bypass valve is slamming shut creating boost so quickly the other sensors and ecu can't keep up. I know Scott told me that is a difficult hurtle to overcome with the TRD/Maggy s/c since it is a positive displacement s/c and there is very little air volume after the rotors. If you are just cruising (in vaccuum) and you whack the throttle, the bypass valve closes creating almost instant boost. The problem is how to control afr and timing for that crucial second or two until the maf/ecu/tps catch up.
The last part is my speculation anyway. I wonder if the UCON can use a MAP sensor as an active input for fuel/timing control. It may be a better type of sensor to quickly react to boost changes.

Lol .. vacuum leak. Found it ...
Supercharger side of the hose connecting to bypass valve. It wasn't loose but was easily pulled. Clamp it down and saw my boost increase.

Wonder if that could have caused my CELs.
Time for another WOT data run ..

Some of my parts started arriving today - spark plugs & valve cover gaskets. Hoping to see a shipping notice from URD soon!
Any tips on choosing a new ECU on Ebay? I have the part number, just wondered if anyone has a method to pick a good clean one.

I’ve ordered a couple ECUs. First one clean, second one water damage, sent back for refund, third one clean. I assume most people selling them aren’t trying to pull a fast one. The one I got that was water damaged, the seller was really easy to deal with, but I did have to pay return shipping. $10 expense the grand scheme of my Tacoma spending is literally nothing to stress over.
