Things tend to be that way when your pulling down 1000+ hrs of OT since the start of fire season.

    Much respect to you all!!

I was working as a FF and I absolutely hated it.. (dont kill me, I come in peace lol)
I Just couldn't stand the people/calls. I was pretty devastated when I quit. I really wanted to like the job, but I felt extremely unhappy. o_O

Hey all. Checking in from Memphis TN. Started out as a Memphis City Firefighter/Paramedic and I’ve been a Lt now for almost 12 years (no Captains here). Fire season here is just starting to roll. I’ve heard two go out before noon today. I’ve got about 26 years in the fire service, with 20 here in Memphis. Y’all stay safe out there!

The A-shift guys made an apartment job last night, and yesterday afterternoon a house came in at the other end of our battalion. There was also a two alarm commercial job in North Memphis. A couple of weeks ago we made 2 houses just around the corner from each other. Both of them getting it pretty good in the middle of the day. (Arson). Temp dropped 20 degrees today, so I figure we may make something tonight. Memphis is on the Detroit plan. Never a dull moment!A5819157-22CA-4A3E-8771-9E4CF019F7DF.jpg

My father and brother are volunteer firefighters I never joined for one reason. (They had a scuba team ditched it years ago) we have a major river running through the center of town and the fireco/city WILL NOT consider anything water rescue related when they could have funding from the County.

I had twenty years on the structural side before making a change 2 months ago getting hired as an ARFF firefighter. I figured it would be a good way to finish out my career (running mostly medicals), it’s just tough being a probie again at 48 years old.
