I’m fairly certain they were color matched to start with. So I should be good if I understand correctly.

Well if I look up the vin on my new truck it was not a limited but it was a TRD OR. It also noted colored keyed bumpers and flares...

Well now I’m confused. It’s a bit of a contradiction, you it’s said the Limited models came color keyed..

There was a limited (color matched front bumper and flares, chrome rear bumper, mirrors, grille and door handles), then there was a color-keyed package (color matched grille, front/rear bumpers, fender flares and door handles):

    My old limited:

    color-keyed package:

I prefer the color keyed package with the limited front seats.

Color-matched was standard on Limited, and was an optional package on other trims (note: it may have required at least the SR5 package as well, I don't recall)

The guys are right will. The limited wasnt the only one that came with color matched flares. I was confused too when i saw @FirstTimeFirstGen rig. I also like the color matched look. I would say one of my fav's is the one in the banner @LSC15 . but his was a limited

Mine is a Limited and I hate the chrome side mirrors and door handles, and I un-color matched my fender flares in the first week of having the truck :crapstorm:

    Fender Flares:

95-97 came with that little chrome strip

    98-00 used fiberglass fender flares

    01-04 used HDPE for flares

Although someone here did report that his 01-04 with color match flares were made from fiberglass.

Now there’s another 99 with HDPE flares.
Shoulda used a semi gloss or flat black, maybe I’ll color match them in the spring.
    140$ invested all together

    I'd leave them black.

    1. Better looking IMO

    2. Easier to touch up.
