Got tired of fumbling around trying to get the spare tire lowered, so I added a 17 1/2 inch piece of 2 inch PVC to create a guide for the handle. Just used some big zip ties to create a sling that has a bit of forward pressure to keep the pipe on the lip below slotted screw, and the back is held in place with a couple more zip ties. May revisit the mounting system on a warmer day! IMG_0716.jpg IMG_0717.jpg IMG_0718.jpg

Found a solid deal on a steering rack for my 04 tacoma. It's brand new but was ordered for a 03 will it still be fine ? (I'm sure there's no changes from these years. They're both 4x4 steering racks. And another question I asked him
If it was an oem rack and he replied with "it was ordered from detroit axle and is oem" don't know if Detroit manufactures the oem rack or what. If anyone can chime in that would be great!

They're a REBUILDER it will likely be an OEM core with their internals.

If the rack doesn't have TOYODA (yes I spelled it right) cast into it then it is completely NEW and likely trash.

Honestly it depends on who you ask. I don't think that the issue with rebuilding is the quality of parts used I think they rush and the assembly is poor and likely slightly incorrect. I am more likely to rebuild my own rack. If the price is right and it has TOYODA cast into it, then buy it. If it is not a huge leap from that price to get an OEM one than that would be the better idea provided you are okay with the price.

I'm going to see if the rack has the toyoda stamp. He's asking 350 so we will see. Said he ordered 1 and they gave him 2

    Check Build thread
Autozone sells one a buddy (non wheeler) bought that had toyoda stamped in it also. Would that be autozones warrenty company using people’s cores and filling them with their junk parts also?

His had a warrenty but failed within 6 months of street driving

Auto parts are reboxed all the time, some days a Napa is a dorman, other days it's an Alltrom. Never know what you're getting from a store brand

Registered it, now legal to drive in PA, next is state inspection and emissions. Wife is still cleaning, but the interior is really coming out nice. Look a heat gun to the center console and 95% of the sun bleached color came back.
Changed the chrome grill out for an grey and black one and greased the drive shafts.

Well I swapped alternators with my known good one and I'm still having issues with the voltage dropping after it warms up. Can't think of what else could be bad, unless my battery is becoming a big resistor somehow.

Resistor theory busted, tried another battery and same issue. Thinking it might be a ground issue.

My '98 came with the little chrome strip fender flares. The black fiberglass fender flares only came with the trucks equipped with the TRD trim option.

Am I crazy or is that truck missing a gas door?

Glass fenders are wider, so it is likely behind them and raised up a bit.

Yes but that’s because the bedsides don’t come with a fuel door and a 32 gallon Fuel cell was added and relocated to the rear. It’s the red thing in this box 4A1836CC-7DDF-4E05-A04C-8761286D0C10.jpg
