    Evening all.
    What a day.
    Life long dream realized today.
Went hunting with my boy for the first time.
He was in a stand and I was on the ground.
    He didn't see anything.
    I didn't see anything.
We hear One shot maybe 1/2 mile away.
5 or 6 other hunters in the area so they didn't see anything either.
    I'm exhausted.
Legs are severely cramping right now.
Sitting in a hot bathtub stretching as I type this.
Underestimated my old age as I was colder than I thought I would be.
I wasn't comfortable for the first 3 hours. I wasn't shivering but not happy.
Definately need to do some work for the next time as it will be colder.
Might have to invest in some heated socks as feet problems are not in my best interest.
    However a good trial run.
    Wouldn't change a thing.

Had 2 hunters stop when I came out and said
    Dude, are you throwing bolts?
    That is so "bad ass".
Asked me all sorts of questions about the setup and showed them
    my 3" cutting heads.
Wished me well on the season and one wanted to hunt with me.
Then my boy did something unexpected. Actually i forgot all about it.
He presented my old skinning knife that I gave him when he started hunting.
Told me it was time for me to start using it again.
    The tears just flowed..
I'm a very happy man right now.

That's a great story, Mike, except the part about you in the bathtub. Sounds like a great day.

My father used to say the same thing about the Smokies in North Carolina. Pretty sure I could move back there now to retire and when it snows stand out in it with a bath robe on and a shit eating grin from ear to ear.

That is awesome Mike. Really awesome. And nothing wrong with the bathtub.

I used to get cramps after hunting especially still hunting or bird hunting long distances. Water. Drink more water force it down. I don't get cramps any more if I do and I have had low potassium and magnesium my whole life. Did I mention drink lots of water?

Hope you don't wake up in the night with cramps. I used to and have them so bad that I'd flop around like a fish especially if both legs had charlie horses after hunting. The Ex being an ever so kind person would just say tell me again how much fun hunting is. Now be quiet I'm trying to sleep. Good luck back out there with your son even if you don't shoot anything your still blessed.

Would have it been more manly and acceptable if I said I was sitting in battery acid ?
