TRD Sport or Off Road?

Nice, what have you done besides change sneakers.

 

I love the Sport & OR! But I would still buy the OR.

I would be happy to own any model Tacoma! I'm on my third one. I'm 62 & retired on October 1st. This Will be my last Tacoma. My wife is 15 years younger than me & loves the truck. It will be hers someday but hopefully not for a Long Time.

 

2017 is the last year for a Manual Transmission!

Have to order the manual. I have an automatic.You can hold gears though.Need to put it in M1 lo range to hold back going down hills off-road.Seems to run a little fast in 2 or D.I believe the Off-Road may be a little more capable,but I am not an extreme off-roader,mainly beach and some snow with occasional other stuff.I enjoy my TRD Sport,but it could use some upgrades if I was going to do much more off road use than I do now..you saw the Uwharrie pics,here it is on the beach just to prove I use it..

 

4 cylinder 5 speed manual seems to be done. I believe we will hear those words "the last year for a Manual Transmission" someday, but I hope not.

Thanks for showing what the auto can do. And I agree, if your doing more than what you did, then dam straight the OR is the right choice. And you fixed the sneakers which are designed for road as stock. It's like you put on hiking boots over running shoes.

@Tdog23 The 5spd was dropped in the 4 banger trucks, but picked up the 6spd as a replacement.

Is this what you were referring too?

 

I recommend any one interested in either the Sport or OR to test drive both. I'm think the Sport cost less.

I had to Check the article. It says 2017 is the Last Year for the 5 speed manual transmission.

 

Not true. It's being replaced with a 6sp manual.

Also not true. Off-road and sport start at the same price. This is the issue most people have with the sport. You get less for your money. For the same price as a sport you can get an offroad that has the locker, crawl control, atrac, etc. The sport is just cosmetic things that can be added later.

 

I didn't know about cost & didn't know there is a 6 speed manual transmission. I was just going on what Car & Driver said.

 

I won't pretend to know everything. Car & Driver didn't say anything about a 6 speed transmission. Thanks for the info.

 

I just went to Toyota's website. You can still only build a 2017 Tacoma.
