So I have had no gains from it at all not very pleased that I spent the last couple weekends rechecking everything. So I guess my ECU is too stupid to learn like the newer trucks. So can I just plug a later model ECU in so I can boost? And have the ECU learn? ECU's are like 120 on E-bay Im all over that if thats the case. Thanks.

I dont think you can on the 1st gens... Just re-set it by un-plugging the battery for a bit. It will take a bit to re-adjust once re-set. However, I think the bigger issue is he needs the URD kit.

I really think that the 1st gen tacomas need to be reflashed as well. I could be wrong.

Yep. Find a 97 ecu that is the same as your truck

Like a 5speed 4x4 or auto or whatever

96 ECGS retard the timing so much that you actually tend to loose power.

Then you should also get the URD 6 injector kit not the 7th injector kit. We have EGR. You can use the 7th injector kit on out trucks. So get the kit that gives you 6 new injectors.

Yes get the correct ecu. Buddy put an ecu out of a 97 t100 and stuck it in his 1996 tacoma. Runs great. If the ecu and sc are installed correctly

Dealer might have one. Will be pricey. Id check your local junk yards first. Maybe ebay, but don't get a knock off one.

and could always post here in the FS section

Hope you know you need a full axle for the e locker not just the third member. It won't fit your axle

Getting the right ecu will help. One from a 97 tacoma works

I was under the impression that the 97 ecu had a different pin out.
