Wouldn’t a V8 option be nice?

    .
I was thinking about this today --> How cool it would be if Toyota had the "COPO Program" like GM started in the 1960's ... i.e. build your own vehicle with very special engine - transmission combinations... these were all special order vehicles ... i.e... 427cu/425hp Camaro's & Nova's

What constitutes a tidal wave of members dropping the Tacoma for something else?

I can get heated seats, but they are not electrically power adjusting...wtf Toyota.

Yeah, can't only blame soccer mom's and dads.

Endless weekend folks want this too.

Thanks for screwing up pickup trucks in general, used to be great simple vehicles, now not so much.

That pretty much nails my favorite truck. Manual locks/windows, cable operated blower/heater, manual lockouts, manual t-case, rubber floor, steel ceiling, minimal upholstery. It has a 5 speed manual trans sitting beside it waiting to be swapped in this winter (we be getting overdrive!) And yes, even though it is a "compact truck" it does have a V8... and looks straight across at my F-150.

It does have Sirius satellite radio and I am accumulating parts to add cruise and A/C (so yelling isn't required to converse while driving on highway) With a sliding back window it stays very tolerable in the cockpit.

...^^^... i like it (except for the paint job) ... and guess its basically a detuned 358 cu in NASCAR vehicle without the refinements.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the paintjob either, but I love the idea of everything else.

What older trucks are you refering to?

My 21 year old Tacoma does not stack up to the new trucks capabilities for towing and payload, and it gets worse fuel mileage, and it is not as safe or comfortable as these modern pickups.

I am not an expert on any vehicle, but I think of the pickup truck as a vehicle useful mainly to agricultural workers and tradesman, and useful to anyone who needs to haul goods.

Before they became more mainstream, they were produced with little change year after year, and mostly were basic, hence more reliable and less expensive than sedans, which were changed more often.

I won't disparage any safety features, since saving life and limb are good goals. Most of the other "comforts" - nice to have since I paid for them, but to be honest, I could really live without.

I think I am not alone in thinking this, but know this way of thinking is in the minority by a large margin.

    Just my $.02

I couldn’t agree more. Toyota needs to either address the drivetrain issues in the 3rd gen and come up with a better powerhouse. I don’t care whatever it is as long as it doesn’t drive like the 3rd gen
