Exactly how I feel when I ask my wife to pick up a sixer of beer. I’m really particular.

Of course it’s probably how she feels when she asks me to pick up wine.

That is the whiskey that started me with single malts and eventually led to a trip to Scotland to hit up a ton of distilleries, my favorite is Strathisla, it is the base whiskey to every Chivas blend that is made. Its a solid speyside single malt. If you like balvenie you'll like this. Only problem is you gotta have it shipped to the states IMG_5612.jpgand of course jameson, knobb, and Woodford along with a few others are in my cabinet

I'll give the Hibiki a try tonight. We reconfigured the dining room to Winter Mode. It's where the fireplace is. We took the leaf out of the dining table, turned it sideways (to make room by the fireplace) and brought in 2 big comfy chairs. I made a beef stew for dinner and stocked up on some firewood. Dinner then settle in by the fire with our books and Hibiki.

Very nice, you are in for a treat.

Lol. I've been using spherical molds for years. Not one nose bop to speak of.

I typically sip it, so by the time I'm ready for the last swig...the ice will be just about be all the way melted.

    No problem!

That's a very small size mason jar in the pic (I think maybe the smallest ones they make)

Gives the illusion of a massive ice ball lol

Never tried distilled water. That seems like a really good idea. Maybr a tad advanced for my level at the moment tho.

I just use filtered water from out Britta system

Love it! Super smooth. Great sitting around a bonfire sipping whiskey. Very hard to find though.

Spec's Liquor is the only place I have been able to find it locally. When they do have it in stock, it gets scooped up pretty quick. I bought the last two the last time they had it in stock and that was over a year ago. Here's a link to their website: http://texaslegenddistillery.com/index.php/troubadour-bourbon-and-whiskey/

My favorite day to day brown likker is Larceny. I almost like it too much...almost. I keep several different names on hand regularly. Some are Eagle Rare, Blanton's, Gentleman Jack, Four Roses single, and Elijah Craig small batch, and I always keep Kirklands on hand for the mixers.

Are you an optimist, or a pessimist? If you're a whiskey drinker it doesn't matter!
