In other news, today I tried further to track down my low voltage issue. At this point I'm just confused, tried new ground cable, alternator output cable, two different alternators, two batteries. My only thought now is the ECU is seeing incorrect voltage and commanding low output, because the low output is consistent after being fully warmed up.

I've been taking measurements from the OBDII port, battery posts, alternator post, only thing I haven't done is read the voltages from the three (or two, depending on alternator) wires used for stator ignition, battery idiot light, and a third wire I am not too sure about. I should probably take a measurement right at the ECU pins too. The Ultragauge BTW is not very accurate in the voltage dept so I'm taking its measurements with a grain of salt.

But if there is a wiring issue (possible), then perhaps the ECU isn't seeing the same voltage.

There are tons of voltage inputs to the ECU, all separate and some completely isolated of each other. The UG is just taking measurements from a +12 wire on the DLC port, on some cars that doesn't even come from the ECU, in fact I am not sure (haven't looked at my wiring diagram) if it comes from the ECU on the Taco. There is a difference between a battery voltage PID in the ECU (something a Taco of my vintage doesn't have) and a measurement taken from the +12v wire on the DLC by the internal voltage meter of the UG. See what I mean, my truck's ECU doesn't have a OBDII PID for battery voltage but internally it does measure it and my UG is only measuring the voltage at the DLC which may not come from the ECU at all. On many cars it is driven off the CIG lighter fuse actually.

Anyone know of a good place to get decent aftermarket parts? Going to be redoing my truck soon and I’m looking to convert to the 01-04 front end need a good fenders bumper and radiator support

Core support, fillers, grille, and headlights I'd get from rockauto.

Hood and fenders I'd try to get from a local part out or junkyard.

Ask @Ice Horse i can't remember if she got a hood or fenders from rockauto or not.

Have you ever ordered anything from them before? I was going to buy just a fender and they were one of the cheaper places but all the reviews weren’t that great, I’m not expecting them to be oem quality but don’t want paper thing junk parts either

I've ordered a lot from them. Be sure to read the descriptions of the items. There are two or three levels of "quality" for most parts.

I buy from them all the time, actually about to order a bunch of Chevy parts for another project I have going. Never had an issue and the one time a part was missing from the box they sent it to me no questions asked the next day.

I'm going to give them a try for $9/pop. I think an important point is that you were using these in Colorado below 35 degree weather. I will be using these in 50-70 degree weather. I'll report back

EDIT: wish i saw that I could use 19" driver/18" passenger. Oh well
