And you are absolutely dead right! It seems like every gun shop owner I have ever met is a dick!. Once my wife asked me how come I didn’t start a gun shop and I told her,—I—- didn’t want to be known as a dick! LOL

I’ll take that back with one exception. The only place I have ever been where the owners and the employees were nothing but nice every single time was, fin feather fur in Ohio . Hopefully we all have that one place in our state also

Depends on the gun. if its one I take out once or twice a year Ill go ahead and clean it when I get home (or within a few days).

My more used guns....when accuracy decreases or i just feel like it. That goes for my Xds, P226, FNX-45, bolt gun, and the AR's. For the pistols its basically whenever i feel like it lol. For the bolt gun and AR's its probably after 200-300 rounds if im shooting for groups. The AR's if just banging steel will go a lot longer. Even then the cleaning is basically take the bolt out, wipe it off, run a few patches through the barrel, then an oiled patch and oil the bolt.

When i first got into guns I would clean them after every range trip. Kind of what my dad taught me too (but we only would shoot like once a year growing up). We both dont do that anymore lol. Except on the more collectable guns and ones that dont get shot often.

Reminds me of a local place. The owner would always say the physical store was separate from the online store. Event though they operated out of the same building with the same employees. A couple times we were nearby and stopped in. Would find something i wanted and check their online store and it was cheaper. Try to have them price match with no luck. So i would use their computer to order it online and have it shipped to me.

Well, I got a spare lower. What to build. What, to build. Kinda thinking rifle. Maybe an old school style one or one with wooden furniture. Then it won't be so scary haha!

Definitely not enough to warrant a full cleaning (or by some peoples' standards, any cleaning at all), maybe 100 - 200 rounds, but I may not shoot that particular rifle again for 6-8 months (or longer). For me, it's better/easier to clean and prep it like you would long(ish) term storage in the safe, and not worry about corrosion/rust. I figure I already have the cleaning supplies out, I've already made the mess, spend another 10 minutes on the BCG and be done.

I agree, must gun shops are staffed by pricks. Although J & S in Olympia, WA was pretty good at customer service when I lived out there, the owner was a pretty down to earth guy.

I really hate going in most gun shops. Just the whole arrogance of the staff. I'm no gun expert on any level but from my experience I'm just as knowledgeable or more so than most of these guys working the shops. They may know some of their products and some selling points but as far as actual gun knowledge it's kinda sad. But they usually act like they are the experts and the customer is some idiot who has never owned a gun. But there are a few exceptions. The best gun shop I have ever been to is in Ashland KY. The name of the place is Bare Arms and they also have an indoor range. The absolute best customer service and a wide range of firearms. I was very impressed. The only problem is it's 2hrs from my house. But I go whenever possible

So I gave my little brother (hes an adult and can legally own firearms) my whole upper from my AR for his birthday, he got to flip 2 coins. One for the upper and one for the lower, he got the upper and I got an excuse to build another AR! I thought this was a cool way to get him into it, he has a couple revolvers and some other firearms but no semi auto rifles.

Now I've gotta figure out what to do for an upper... not gonna build an SBR, so what should I build? 6.5 Grendel?

What do you want to use the upper for? Do you own a suppressor? if not do you plan on getting a suppressor?

I've got a Grendel and love it my buddy has a 6.8 spc and it is nice as well. They both shoot really good but my Grendel seems to hold up better at long range.
