One spline makes quite a big difference. You can easily notice the rack being off a spline because the tie rods will be multiple threads off one another.

@j0shu4 's problem is likely just a small alignment issue. I wouldn't touch the steering shaft, you'll just create a bigger headache. My steering wheel moves every time I wheel.

Why are you surprised it took that long? Wheel with a heavy foot? All my wheeling and I've never broken a CV.

No, I've just always seen people around me brake them. The consensus to me was they tend to brake a lot :notsure:

Don't forget u-joints. I have a pitman puller which was great for tie rods and LBJ's but needed the ball joint press for the upper and u-joints. Want to add it to my trail carry gear in case I ever have a u-joint blow (though I have a spare DS too).

You don't have a front locker either right? Kinda surprised you blew one at all. Unless you mashed the gas, wheel came up in the air, got some speed, and came back down on it.

This. Moving a spline will make the wheel off almost a 1/4 turn, dealt with that shit when I did my steering rack. IIRC the best way to do a minute steering wheel alignment is the OTRE's I think.

You just need an alignment. Don't move the splines unless it is way off on the tie rods.

Need some better tires is what you need. Looks like you have car tires on haha and low PSI and a touch more momentum. Be fine!

Just had an alignment done. They said my wheel bearing is bad on those Solo spindles and weren't wanting to do it. It shifted on its own a few weeks later. It's off about 45° but the truck still rides good and tracks straight. Just wanted to shift the wheel back over without messing up the tie rods. I thing my front tire wobbles just a hair.

Is it the ujoint at the 3rd member?
Mine was, zerk channel was constipated with dirt and grease, needle bearings were dust/rust.

14mm box wrenches, mark the flanges with grease pen or hello kitty nail polish.
When all out, flex the ujoint:
if smooth, continue upstream towards transfercase.
if one fin is binding, bingo!
bfh and a disposable socket and some 2X4" to smack against.
