Matthews is a more complete two way player. McDavid has more top end talent. This has been played out a million times. The Oilers problems wouldn't be solved by swapping one for the other.

Because the media is all over this. Matthews is a great player both on the score sheet and in advanced stats. McDavid is struggling on both ends of those things right now. Again, it's just the media stirring the pot to get more eyes on their articles.

Man, that's a hell of a trade this early in the season. Feels like everyone won at least for now. If the Sens don't resign Duchene though or win something with him it could be a bit of a bust.

 

That was a gift from Letang. He's like a -237 this year. 3 of those goals were on him IMO. No idea why he is so awful. But until he figures out how to play, maybe we shouldn't be giving him 30mins of ice per night. Just a thought.

Duchene is a bit of a step up from Turris who I always thought was a very underrated player, but sens gave up way too much here.

 

Ottawa wins if they can keep Duchene and get somewhere with him. Otherwise, they made out okay for a player they didn't want and a few picks. I'm not sure how else they were going to dump Turris for something they actually needed.

 

If you can keep him happy you'll enjoy him. He's made it pretty clear he needs to be babied or he'll turn those last few years into pain.

 

Hes honestly really good. Sad to see him go. But I think Duchene is an upgrade on him, time will tell if the Sens paid too much. Right now, id say all the teams each won the trade from their own perspective. Hell of a blockbuster trade.

 

This is something that was never on the table from Turris with the Sens. Sounds like Turris wanted out, without asking for a trade, and was asking for a ridiculous 7-8 year contract to force their hand. Glad we got something out of it IMO.
