What are guys hearing on the trade in value of the 2017 TRD Tacoma's? A lot of us typically do about same type modifications wheels, ect. Most if the time the add ons don't mean a thing to them until they are trying to sell it. I've heard as low as 31k and as high as 35 or so. I know dealers=butthurt but just inquiring. Also wouldst mind hearing numbers on selling to a private buyer. Obviously more $. Considering going back a 4runner or going full size. Here are my specs. Thanks

2017 Silver Trd Sport with premium tech pkg
    8k
    20" wheels tires
    3" lift
    TRD intake
    Bed cover
    Roof Rack
    side steps

You might get lucky to get $32-33k.

Best bet is to pull any aftermarket parts and sell privately, as dealers don’t give a crap about that stuff and won’t give you any extra money for it.

IMO, I think that there are a lot of variables to take into consideration, especially trading in on another Toyota. How many new Tacoma's do they currently have on the lot, and how many are of the same trim level as yours. How many used Tacoma's are there currently on the lot, and are they similar to your trim level.

Low miles?, the dealer may think that there is something wrong and you may be trying to get rid of a problem.

Now if you are going to a different manufacturer, then you may have "more value" for your trade; especially if you are looking to upsize to a full size truck. You can always make that argument, but a dealer may also think that you are desperate and again trying to dump a problem.

There are a ton of dealers out there that I am sure would be more than happy to make you a deal, and with the model year end and calendar year end; there are a lot of deals out there to be had. Question is, are you willing to take what they offer, or more than likely get more if you try and sell it outright.

Good luck in your decision, not an easy one to make for sure. Looking forward to see which direction that you decide to go.

When my friend and I were shopping for our Tacos, all the private sellers were quoting prices just like you said, and both of us thought
'why should we pay $32k+ to buy used goods when we could buy new for $34.'
We both bought new Tacoma's and skipped the used market. It doesn't make any sense.

My truck is stock 17 trd off road with 9k on it the Ford dealer offered me 34 for it here in Texas. I stop at the Toyota dealer same day to see they offered me 31. I would try a couple dealer see what they offer and decide from there.

    all tore up already
Actual cash value was probably similar, but looking at a ford they can pad the trade allowance by taking available rebate/discount from vehicle you are looking at. The best for this is usually looking at a dodge dealership. My trade was 5000 everywhere, then i went to a dodge store and it was worth 11000 magically. Still drive a toyota though so clearly another 6000 wasnt enough incentive for me to drive a dodge

Pretty sure you will not get your money out of the lift and the gangster wheels. Maybe if you can find someone with the same tastes, but not "Joe Consumer". Certainly not from a dealer.

    Just sayin . . .

When I was truck shopping Ford Corporate has trade assist. If your trade has less then 90K miles on it and is less then 9 years old they add $2,500 to the dealer trade value. It came out to $1500 more then what Toyota offered me for my trade. Still went with the Tacoma.
I used KBB to get my trade values for dealer and private sale.

May I please ask why turn down the Fords money, and a Ford engine-d truck for your Tacoma?
I am interested in learning how others came to choose their truck, especially when it comes to turning down a money offer.
Also, was your trade-in fully paid for. And is your new Tacoma financed, or paid for?

I live near Rochester,NY and I have a fully loaded 2016 limited tacoma with tow package and oem tri fold tonneau cover with 10k miles. I had my truck appraised this past summer because I was buying a new civic Type R and the honda dealership lowballed me at 30k. So I decided to try and sell my truck at a different dealer and here are the quotes I received. Original owner purchased new back in April 2016 for $37,800 plus the bs toyota fee I forgot what its called tda?

    toyota dealer -31k
    carmax - 32k
    aution direct - $32,800

Thank-you! So a $5k hit for driving off the lot.
Just was trying to validate if there's any truth to that saying.
I reckon, you had absolutely no such plans for a trade-in and did it for fun.

Edit: Noticed 51,750 miles. Not 1,750 miles. I mis-read the number.

Yeah fuck that noise. Did they not realize that was a PRO??? I guess in the big scheme of things it's just like a TRD Offroad 4x4. Value wise, wholesale to a dealer. But then again u have 51k on the clock

I don't think that's fair, as he has 51k miles. That's quite a bit (relative to the model year).

You're almost better off keeping it with that amount of negative equity. You could try to roll that into a new contract with Toyota financial or use it as a trade in. Easiest would be to keep it.
