Actually about 70 % of the Toyotas driven in Canada were made in Canada , although the Tacoma and Tundra are two models not made here ,

Yes, typical ranting back and forth between friends. If I don't know the person I wouldn't care anyway, I enjoy my ride and I'm proud of it.

Hey vpcustoms, I hate idiots like your boss. I looked up where the Chevy Colorado was made and here's what I found. The vehicles are manufactured and produced at a GM plant in Rayong, Thailand, and in Shreveport, Louisiana. There is no such thing as a 100%, made in the USA, vehicle. Just US based companies, that keep getting bailed out by our government I might add. Good luck dealing with him and enjoy your taco, it will be running long after his colorado. I've got an 01 Prerunner with 110K and the truck looks and runs great.

Wow i am sorry i really thought this theard was a joke. as a canadian i laugh at some of the anti anything not invented in the us i am sorry that your fellow country men have such narrow minded and elitetest attiude. i have owned dozen of cars and trucks over my life time and have never been giving such a hard time over my picks

i am shocked that things like this happen still in the usa. after everything your great country has done for the worild only to end up broke, high unimployment housingmarket crash stock market crash and wars

i fear the usa will not surive unless they become part of the world instead of trying to run it.
maybe if gm and dodge would build good cars then they would not have to cry for handouts

you do notsee ford toyota benz or a large listof other company lined up for handouts.

when i was a kid everywhere around the world look at the usa as a great place to live . Now look at it today

i think everyone should be able to pick his car or truck without smart ass comments or harassment at work place because of it.

is this not what the usa is all about.

Today i am very proud to say i am canadian and i love my toyota

    Har har har....

Tell him, you'll park in the corner of the lot to prevent from getting COOTIES (laugh) from his truck!!

But for real, I'd park in the back corner to prevent dumb ass people (like him) from denting & touching my truck.

I buy what I want. I don't care what everyone else buys. Anyone who dogs on my Toyota, I ignore it cuz they don't understand.

I get crap all the time from the hill jacks around here! They say "even though toyota's are built here, that all the money goes to japan". I tell them that if the American auto manufacturer's want my buisiness they have to build a truck that appeals to me! Currently there is not another truck on the market that I would trade mine for! Like janster said I buy what I like, and the Tacoma just feels right! I've had it for almost 4 years with zero problems. I hope to keep it for a long time. Unless of course the 3rd gen. Is so awesome that I feel I gotta have one!

Most people who ride in my truck comment how nice it is and they did not realize Toyota made such a nice truck.

What you could do is inform him that his truck AND yours were assembled in the SAME plant. That being the NUMMI plant in CA. Government motors has withdrawn from the agreement when their (GM's) massive mismanagement came to light..... I believe Toyota is or has left this facility as well!?

So we drop two nukes on them and they retaliate by selling us great vehicles.

Seriously though, if all else was equal the "Buy American" would be a factor. Truth is there isn't a domestic truck that interests me.

YES! Constantly. My classmates that drive Chevy's and Fords. They always ask me, "Has my gas pedal gotten stuck yet?", "Have you wrecked you truck yet?", and "Why are you driving a Rice Burner??? Drive American".

I get it all the time. I'm real calm with my answers and tell the truth. Some actually start to go on my side with the argument. So that helps.

I wish I could videotape or record what people say about my truck. Because it's a Toyota.

I just remind them about How many Recalls GM or Ford has had. I need to bring in a chart because some people are just so ignorant.

I have some friends at my school that drive domestic trucks, one actually would be great for off-roading, but still, my Taco is better than his. He jokingly gives me and a buddy who also has a Taco crap about "has your gas pedal stuck yet" and all that crap. Not that big of a deal. But one kid who I never really talk to drew this picture for the school newspaper that had a tour bus going by a "Toyota Junkyard" because all the people were trading them in because of the recalls.
