Battery fitment question.

I promise I tried to do a search for this...


Anybody know if I can fit a Group 27F in place of my OEM Group 24F using the existing battery tray/hold down?

Nope...the large(tow package) 2nd Gen tray works though.

 

whatever you replace it with, replace with East Penn Deka

Don't buy those cheap made in mexico Johnson Control batteries

 

Thanks for the tip! I've been getting mixed signals from checking battery applications.

NEVER! You see that I'm replacing a <1 year old OEM Johnson Control battery! I use either Odyssey or North Star in all my equipment.

 

I use red tops!

Johnson Controls and Exide make the vast majority of batteries. Different brands from same factory with same quality.

East Penn is family owned and makes a better quality battery right here in USA.

 

Fair enough. Their battery quality did go down after they moved to Mexico but the warranty is still the same!

 

True. I ran red tops and had everyone replaced under warranty and got tired of it. Started researching.

East Penn are harder to buy because they aren’t in your average auto parts store but are absolutely worth it.

I had Colorado made Optima's last up to eleven years. I had three Mexican made Johnson Control Optima's fail at or before four years of age (one at two) before I realized they sold and moved out of country. I sure didn't care that the warranty remained the same when I went through the large amount of battery related down time. It's well worth the money for an Odyssey or Northstar to be able to install a battery and then go about my business for 8 years before needing to worry with a battery. I've got 20+ batteries in equipment and vehicles and quality AGM batteries save me time.
