I hear you. I did not enjoy ABS prints. We have high temp PET for our company parts and have 150lb or so of crap PET. We don't use that for anything but test prints.

I can help with whatever, if you'd like. No biggie either way.

I have mixed feelings about the glow tube on the side. I know it's needed if you go with highly directional LEDs in place of bulbs though.
Big fan of your lighting work BTW.

I already chopped up the wires for the tail as turn.

    Is your method identical?

Did you ever get an answer on the wires to tap into? Is it the wires posted earlier in this thread?

No, I didn't, but that's ok...it's just a matter of testing the wires with my multi meter. I'll try to take some pictures once I get my stuff and install it, but it might not happen for a week or so (busy week to include the weekends).

Went with @Siblue 's idea for now, and used the diode dynamic modules.

The wires I tapped are as follows:
    Driver:
    • Brake: Blue
    • Turn: Yellow
    • Turn Ground: Black/White
    Passenger:
    • Brake: Dark Blue
    • Turn: Light Blue
    • Turn Ground: Black/White
Tied the 50W 6Ohm resistor from the truck side turn signal wire to the ground on the turn signal harness.

Thanks for the heads up on the wire colors, I'm going to undertake this myself.

    No problemo

While I was in there I switched the stock reverse bulbs out to the 30W HIRs. SO MUCH LIGHT!
    Highly recommend: see thread

You just made my week by sharing this.

I had ordered the diy kit a few days ago and was going to go in blindly into it.

Here is a picture of the stock wiring harnesses on the Driver side:
    Driver Side Tail Light Wiring.jpg

    Here's the Passenger side:
    Passenger Side Tail Light Wiring.jpg

I only cut the yellow and light blue wires on the driver side and only the light blue and blue on the passenger side. Here's a wiring diagram that I whipped up to show how I wired in the Turn as Tail modules so that the top and bottom sections are both the brake light and the turn signal (just as siblue showed us in his video earlier):

Some things of note, I did replace the top and middle 7443 lights with red 7443 LED lights (also from Diode Dynamics)...a definite improvement in brightness and crispness!
Note that I did NOT need to add a resistor (meaning that I had no hyper blinking).

At some point, I may change the reverse lights for swtichbacks, but for now, I am happy with this setup. :D :D

    Thanks guys

EDIT: Just wanted to point out that the thin black wire (in my wiring diagram) represents the white wire with a black strip on it. All of those are the ground wires for each harness.

EDIT 2: Updated wiring diagram to show the 9ohm/50W resistors that will likely be needed.

I would be down for this kit. Reds would be running/brake. White would be amber turn/white reverse.

Word to the wise: have a soldering kit available. Diodes kit is weak, thread lightly.

Wow. I use a lot of their PWM dimmers, and they are in the same enclosure. Even These are hand assembled at their facility, I still check them for QC. Btw these modules are open to the elements and are NOT fully sealed. So if mounting it behind the light, I suggest siliconing the holes.

I think it may be the way they were shipped. They were a little bent into the box and the minute I opened it, the wire just fell out. It might've been bent broken somewhere in the process. Diode is great about their RMA process, but when you've cut wires and this happens, I was bummed lol.

I had one that was also DOA, but the RMA process was incredibly fast and I'm super happy with their customer service.

Diode Dynamic's LEDs are extremely good quality tho!
