The reason the 2018 are late

As of This AM you can only build and price 2017's. There are still 523 available in my area.

Meh, I'm sure they sell about 200 Tacomas a week in the United States.

 

Still more than 2500 Double Cabs and 250 Access Cabs in the southeast inventory system.

For October Toyota USA posted sales of 15,804 Tacoma's. The current inventory is a drop in the bucket.

 

It's pissing me off lol. It is freaking November. Come on now. I want to order a 2018, but having this delay is getting a little old. I know Toyota is behind with the times, but come on now, you can do it.

 

I still believe the delay is because of the rear diff recall. They couldn't fix the current 2017's due to lack of parts and were not going to release 2018's with the same issue.

Orrrr not. This truck isn't materially changed from the 2016... err early 2000s. This battle has been ongoing and Nissan is content with losing.

All things that will slow release of a 2018. Besides its the same truck, they just added a what blind spot monitoring system? Changed a few color schemes. Hardly anything to write home about. Toyota attemps to dazzle its customers with techno gizmos without really explaining what your truck is mechanically..

I saw shipment of Tacomas unloading at my service dealer this week.

I was surprised to see they all had cheese grater chrome Grilles Indicating that they were 2017s.

On my way to work yesterday I saw another dealer receiving a shipment of 2017s.

Is inventory being moved around?

If you think about it, the market for mid-size trucks grew, but Tacoma sales have stayed basically the same. GM and Honda grew the market.

 

I hope that is true as that means they will have a fix out soon.

 

They already have a fix. re-torque the bolts. Less than 1% of the recalled vehicles actually had a problem with the rear diff. The recall is not holding back the release of the 18s. The vehicles are probably being staged at the depots as we speak waiting a little bit longer for Toyota to sell the remaining 2017s. It won't be much longer. Could be a good time to get a really good deal on a 17. Literally nothing has changed. So unless your gung-ho on getting TSS or 1 of 2 new colors, just save the extra money and buy a 17
