Poor Mike Sweers, he tried to be innovative and reinvent the wheel and use a oddball transmission
I live by a bunch of car dealerships. I see 2016, 17s Tacomas as trade ins all the time. Low miles like you said. Why is that? I think we both know. The sales people know this too. For them there is no loyalty to a brand. Its all about $$$.

I spotted these 3rd gens at mainly Ford and GMC dealers. Funny thing is you wont see many F150's with Ecoboost at a Toyota dealership.. Gotta wonder why that is..

I would buy a new 17 over a used 1 that is not certified and you no nothing of its history nor even looked at in person.

Well if you go by actual data you'd see a much different picture. According to you the new Tacoma is a POS compared to the last gen so by that logic we should see a lot more 2016s going to auction and on the used market than 2015s right?? Except its the exact opposite....

Within 500 miles of me there's (502) 2015 Tacomas for sale and (176) went through the last manheim auction.

compared to 2016 Tacomas there's (317) on the used market and only (120) went through the last manheim.

for comparison there are (484) 2016 F-150s on market and (186) went through the last manheim.

If the 2nd gen is the one to have why are there so many getting traded in?!? Maybe its because that's what people do.... they trade in cars all the time for all sorts of reasons. By your logic the 2015 Tacoma is also a POS because look at how many used ones there are!!!

You're starting with a conclusion and working your way backwards via anecdotal observation, that's not how to logic bro

Your control data is flawed for one reason. What was the milage of those 2015, 2016's F150? The Tacomas I saw 2016/2017 had very low miles. As in less than 15k..... I talked to the used car salesmen at the CPO side of Toyota he says any 4x4 2nd Gen's they get they sell very quickly on the lot. As I was talking him I saw a silver turd gen 4x4 sport sitting on the lot. Guess what? less than 20k... How long do 2nd gen owners keep their trucks for? Usually like 60k-100k, they put a fuck ton of miles on them. Why is that? When did I say the 2015 was a POS? Now you're making shit up. Funny you want to mention " logic" but you're making a accusation and assumptions that aren't even true nor factual.

Like I said I have yet to see many F150s at a Toyota dealership as a trade in.. In fact on a facebook group for TRD Pros a former owner traded in his TRD PRO for a Ford Raptor. Why not??? you get way more bang for your buck with the 3.5 EB or 6.2 V-8 vs the 2GRE-FKS 3.5..

But hey... Its all me right lol

First of all I didn't say you called the 2015 a POS lol, its called deductive reasoning. Your "logic" is 2016s are being traded in therefore they suck!! The ACTUAL DATA shows even more 2015s are being traded in so one would DEDUCE that your logic applies to the 2015 as well. You obviously don't think the 2015 sucks but you use this logic to reason the 2016 does suck, while not applying the same logic to the 2015. The conflicting results from the same application of logic in this situation leads to something called COGNITIVE DISSONANCE, but you I think I lost you at "deductive reasoning" so I don't expect you to understand the disconnect....

All you do is speak in anecdotes "I saw" "he said" "usually" "I have yet to see" my god man as an EMT did you have to take any science courses at all!?! Even high school freshmen learn the difference between anecdotal and empirical evidence, do you know what the difference is??

I don't expect you to have access to the data needed, I do, so I won't hold that agains't you. But anyone with the ability to think critically would realize their own experience is a data set of ONE and would seek out the information necessary to make a proper conclusion, you don't seem interested in actual facts or data just your own opion lol.

Hope you never respond to an accident I'm involved in :/

Here's the market data on 2015s and 2016s within 500 miles of san diego:

So please explain how the 2015 is NOT a POS using YOUR logic of "a bunch of used ones are getting traded in therefore they suck!" You can't... because its shitty logic.

    Try again ;)

I think its funny how you're personally insulting me now. Your choice of inferno red suits your snobbish personality. Lmao. Not sure why you're bringing my profession into the mix now. You're able to demonstrate there's more 2015 on the market, big deal. Did it ever occur to you that people are taking the bait for the Turd Gen? Consumers will always buy whats ' newest', doesn't mean its the ' best'. If you look at the section of Car Gurus CPO you'll see over 110 listings for CPO 2016 & 2017 Tacomas with less than 35k... within 100 hundred miles of San Diego.

For the love of all that is holy, sell the goddamn Tacoma already and buy a Ford.

No purchase is worth the amount of pain and suffering this truck is apparently causing you.

And if you looked 1 year ago you don think you'd see 100+ used 2015s??

If you looked in 2015 you don't think you'd see 100+ used 2014s???

I know you would because I was selling toyotas in 14/15 lol.

So again you have NO POINT.

    Try again again ;)

Point being if people LOVED the third gen so much.. Why are they offloading them so quick as CPO's if its a " Toyota". Less than 40k on the odometer. Why are 2nd gen's being driven longer despite the last generation ending in 2015. If you go over to the 2nd gen fourm thread section they refuse to give them up citing they " feel sorry for us".

Why would the two gentlemen from the TRD PRO owners group who paid 50k dump their vehicles so quickly?
