I used the spray cans. I think it was two cans, but it might have been part of a 3rd.

I was going to suggest this. They even have threaded ones so you can even kinda thread it in as well as glue it. I'd probably go that route and seal it on the outside with jb weld just to be safe, but I tend to overkill stuff.

I have an Exide battery plant near, I buy 2nds when available. I put the largest CCA that’d fit, I had to bend my battery holder though.

I just did this as well. Here was my write-up and parts, and bedding. Note: OEM rotors and pads have better casting, and more surface area than after-market, which is why I went that route.

Mine are identical to Toyota OEM. No holes, slots, or anything. They actually told me to buy new ones from O’Reillys or NAPA. You have a good write-up too. I replaced my lines with Wheelers.

There’s no comparison to the Tacoma vs Tundra brakes. I wonder if Toyota fixed this on the 2nd & 3rd gens?

I think I will go the same route as you, I like the price of the callahan kit but I think OEM is a better option.

The 2nd gen brakes are quite good. Close to the same size as the tundra brakes.

There are upgrade options for them though from Stoptech. big $$ but when you get fully armored and big tires...can't hurt. That said, my dad still has OEM stuff and it stops really good for an armored pig.

The only part I hesitated to buy was the remanufactured calipers. The rotors(O’Reillys, NAPA, & Toyota) are all the same, if I had the $$ I would’ve gone with new Toyota calipers.

I experience the same. Most of the time I cant hear them squeaking because I got my music playing loud. I have sprayed Ballistol before, but usually creeps back.

My understanding (and experience) is that the rotors are not the same. I don't know if it actually makes a difference, but I was willing to spend a bit extra on brakes. Also, parts may be different across different Napa's or different chains - so maybe I just ran into a bad batch.
