Truck was found by the Sheriff's dept today. Parked in a Walmart parking lot full of used needles, empty bags of meth and a bunch of laundry in the back. They said it's still in great condition, none of the parts stolen and not a dent to be found. It's being taken to evidence now. Can't believe it was still in town. Wondering if I can get my insurance to total it and get a new one now that it's had meth in it. Thanks for all the posts everyone. Glad they found it. Definitely brings some closure.

Glad they found your truck intact. Getting it totaled though with no damage is going to be a long shot.
A buddy of mine had his WRX stolen earlier this year. They recovered it after a high speed chase in which the vehicle was damaged. They did not total it.

I would at least see if they would cover a complete detail to make sure it is clean of residue.... You wouldn't want to alert a drug sniffing dog...

^Exactly. With all the BP checkpoints here that would be a major concern, not even mentioning City Police, Sheriff, DPS etc. Imagine being arrested and charged with suspected drug trafficking the first time you went through a checkpoint, or at the very least being detained every time you had to pass through one.

Exactly what I'm worried about. A friend's parents were in a similar situation and insurance totaled the car. Apparently you can never get enough of the residue out to get past the border dogs. Especially if they smoked it.

I’d definitely bring that up to your insurance company. I’m pretty sure you won’t ever be able to get that stuff out of there.

    Meth spores are dangerous

Do some research on proper cleaning procedures and present that to your insurance company

I'm late to this thread but damn is this scary. I also live in Tucson and a little bit ago had my garage door pried open and they stole basically everything I had in there in about 45 minutes time. Several neighbors also got hit, Tucson has seen a high rise in theft this year sadly. Mainly in the nicer areas with nicer things to take. I caught the guys on camera, looked like the stereotypical scronny white meth head guys.

Yeah they aren't going to total it. You MIGHT get them to cover an interior detail... though a decontamination would be good.

But your deductible might mean you pay for that. Insurance covering loss of use? Rental car?

If meth was smoked or manufactured in the vehicle it absolutely MUST be deconned

Meth residue is horrible and clings to everything and can make you very very very suck

You're looking at replacing everything fabric and probably the plastic too

What part of town do you live in and which Walmart did they find it at? I'm just curious as a fellow Tucson resident.

I have seen many perfectly good vehicles without any damage run the auction block with signs in every window that read “BIOHAZARD” Running and driving without any damage yet still totaled by the insurance as a “Theft Recovery”. I would seriously consider talking to you insurance and getting them to total it as if being a biohazard now. If you see them giving you a hard time consider an attorney. As others have posted meth spores are dangerous and invisible tonthe naked eye. This is a very bad combination for you as the owner

Bear traps should be available at a good price since they are no longer legal to use on bears.
This thread caused me to put a pistol on my desk where I'm working. I took it out of the holster. From where I'm sitting I have to run towards the outside door to get away so that's not a good option.

Sounds like they need to start making more Breaking Bad episodes, so some folks can have some employment and the lazy ones can have something to sit home and watch.

You're right...it's often referred to as spores but it's just a disgusting residue that sticks to everything

You sir are correct on the spores. The biohazard comes in the form of the used needles that have come in contact with human blood causing them to be a biohazard.
