I almost impressed her! As much as she loves wheeling and camping with me she already told me that if I do the whipsaw trail again next year, she isn't coming. Oh well.

You can’t win em all... time to get extra reckless.
I saw on someone’s build they had a sticker/decal on their dash that said “Remember dumbass, you have to drive this home”
Maybe you need one of those for whipsaw since it’ll be just you now

I haven't posted in here for a while. Nothing new with the truck but my wife and I managed to get out for the long weekend.

Hells Canyon, Oregon. That would be Idaho on the other side of the river.

This year we decided to skip the family Thanksgiving and do a camping trip in Oregon instead.

First night (Wednesday) was at a place called Three Forks on the Owyhee river. It is where 3 rivers in 3 canyons all meet up. Such a rad spot. We found a site right on the water:

Thursday night was in Bend. I had a great spot picked out just outside of town but it was about 35 degrees with a rain/snow mix coming down hard. My wife (ok, ok, me too!) wasn't feeling up to camping in that crap weather so we ended up getting a hotel for that night. Bad weather didn't stop us from cooking a thanksgiving dinner at a city park though!

I forgot to mention that we brought out 7lb toy poodle Rocky with us. They don't do so awesome in cold weather but he managed.

The third night was near the Painted Hills. This was our first time going here and we were impressed!

There are some beautiful highways in the area and we kept on telling each other "we should come here in the summer with the Harleys!"

We ended up camping right beside the John Day River. We really lucked out on this trip finding some truly beautiful camp sites.

Small update on the build today. I ditched my homemade drawers and platform for a new Decked system. This thing is stout! Next on the wish list (if I can fit it) is a refrigerator mounted on a slide. Hopefully that will happen before our trip to Utah in late October.

For the second year in a row my wife and I spent the Labor Day weekend camping in Hell's Canyon, Oregon. We have been out to Dug Bar four times now and can't seem to get enough of the spot.

We always see a bit of wildlife out there.

We couldn't get enough of that Snake River. The water was perfect!

We started this trip on Wednesday evening after we had gotten off from work so come Saturday we started heading in the direction of home. Not before stopping by the Imnaha Store and Tavern for a quick cup of coffee and a picture of this post office I've always wanted to take...

We then spent our final night camping on Mt. Emily just east of Pendleton. It was nothing like our riverside campsite at Dug Bar but it got the job done.

We made it home Sunday afternoon and still have Monday off. Can't beat that! My wife and I decided that next year we want to spend an additional full day there at Dug Bar. It is just too nice!

A small update for today: I replaced my old Pioneer stereo with a new Kenwood. It brought me back to my high school days when I used to install stereos and subwoofers for all of my buddies.

Before my upcoming Moab trip I would like to get my cab mount plates welded on and repaint my sliders. We'll see if it happens.

I stuck to my word and got the BAMF cab mount chop plates welded in today. I've been driving around with the cut done but no plates welded in for the last two years.

I sprayed them with a rustoleum undercoat product. Time will tell if it was the right choice over normal spray paint.

Went to Moab last week. We actually drove through nine different states on the trip. I put about 3400 miles on the truck and it performed flawlessly. There were one or two instances where I questioned my sanity and whether or not I had enough skid plates but everything worked out great. At times this trip had me dreaming about building a flatbed and getting one of those flatbed model 4 wheel campers though. Some of those nights were quite chilly.

Next on my to do list: Either cut off and re-weld those cab mount plates because they are STILL rubbing, or purchase and install the Alpine Designs cab mount relocate bracket. Still going back and forth on what I want to do. Also on the to do list: Give her a good, deep cleaning. I've got Utah dust and mud everywhere!
