Thank you. I'm quite pleased with them. They look better in real life than in the pictures.

I've been wanting to come down and check out Puerco again. I didn't get to see too much of it last time. I'll maybe get down there on one of the next few weekends if somebody wants to go out there with. I can easily test them here though. We have GNARLY terrain here. Much of it is actually too gnarly.

    As for the materials cost:
-A 20' stick of 2" x 2" x 3/16" square tube was about $55 (4 inner legs and main beam) I have about 5' of this left over
-A 24' stick of 1.5" x 1.5" x 7 gauge square tube was about $55 also (5 outer legs and secondary beam) I have about 7' of this left over
    -$15 in primer and paint
-The brackets and gussets were scrap = Free
    -Total about $125

Steel is pretty expensive but I was able to build them for about a third of the cost of buying them. I could have bought lesser steel but I didn't want to cut any corners over $20. I'm pretty sure I built them strong enough for a F350. When I lifted the whole side of the truck by the outer beam, I couldn't even measure any flex with a ruler. I forgot to weigh them but I guess they're probably about 40 lbs each. In my research I discovered a lot of the ones you can buy aren't really all that strong. They use thinner steel, less legs, etc. There are a few monsters for sale out there though. Some of those smaller companies are building way better sliders than some of the big boy companies and they charge less too.

Next job is 3/16" thick skid plates. I'm going to replace those factory "dust covers" and I'll probably make one for the gas tank too. I'll make those from scrap. They'll be free too. Since I don't have access to the shop during the summer, I doubt I'll get to bumpers until the fall semester.

Are you planning on making anymore sliders in the future? I'd definitely be interested! my running boards aren't cutting it. I wish they'd make runningboards that could do the same as sliders...

You can. Hover and scroll through the banner pictures. Check out the sliders with the Dos Equis sitting on them. I think those are exactly what you're looking for. I can't remember what company makes those, but without the turn up, they double as steps as long as you have a textured traction surface on the top. I could make those out of entirely 2" x 2" x 3/16" square tube. They would be easier to make and stronger than mine. Honestly, if I was going to go back and start over on my set, that's how I'd make them.

I'd gladly make and sell them but my shop time is very limited. I probably wouldn't be able to make them until the fall semester.

Sliders look sweet Greg....so when does mass production start????? J/K

So I put in my input for the summer meet. Im thinking the 10th of July. But as soon as we all decide I can take off the time. And Im good with either an overnight trip which would be badass or a day trip, also badass. If Farmington is gona be the destination that is great cause there is some good trails up in chokecherry and the surrounding area.
