A little pork loin action, rubbed with Back Alley Jim’s. Just hit the smoke.

Well they said good things come to those who wait.
I’ didn’t want to brag but I will. This is my best Craigslist score ever. I found the unicorn, 26” weber kettle, yesterday. $65 in good condition. The seller couldn’t meet last night but said he would hold it for me. After 24hrs of painful hours, I finally got her. Glad I searched under “webber” not “weber”

Barely used. He said it belonged to his roommate who abandoned her. He didn’t even know what the charcoal basket is used for.

Now I can exhale. She’s home now. I’m so excited i didn’t even get a chance to wash her down.

Hell yes! Slownsear should be your first purchase and then a vortex!

I agree. Slow n sear is awesome. I have the slow n sear for 22", might upgrade to the one suited for the 26.

Have you use the one you have in the 26? I doubt it' worth the upgrade size.

I’ve heard of the vortex and people making their own vortex :anonymous:

One thing I learned. Accessories are expensive. I wanted to get my own brand new cooking grate and I think Weber wants $40

And good call on spelling it Webber in Craigslist. There are more idiots in my area than I previously thought.

Yes a lot of people have cut the bottom out of a stainless steel mixing bowel. It always seems to work, some better than others. I did consider that.

A Stainless Steel grate from Weber which they don't even list on the website is around $80 for a 22" kettle. I have one. But most aftermarket ones are all of that some a lot more. Yeah accessories add up quickly.

    Speaking of which....

Long story but related to accessories and trying to make my 18" WSM into a pit cooker and drum smoker, plus the option of keeping it as a WSM.

Anyone have both the 18" and 22" WSM and feel the 22" was not worth it and the extra fuel consumption? Happy with the 18" but may be getting the 22" too. Accessories aren't that much more for the 22" than the 18". It would be new there are no CL finds like many others seem to get.

Never done turkey legs before. They sure smell good though! Letting them rest for a bit before I dig in. I got off work a little late so I put them on the grill for about an hour and a half at around 300. Brought IT to 180 and pulled them. Higher than need be but some people say its the way to go. Will report back with results.

180 is good for dark meat poultry, it can have a slimy mouth feel otherwise.

Drum sticks were a success! I've never done them before so I really didn't know what to expect. There are definitely a lot of tendons and such running in there but the meat was damn tasty. I made my own brine this morning with some Sweet Rub 'O Mine, garlic powder, Onion powder, and salt. Pretty sure I nailed it with the brine.
