Why would you want to cut corners on something that's insures your investment?

This! I’ve started small, as I didn’t know what it was, and bought $400 worth of Lite Coin. It’s now up to $585 as of an hour ago. $185 profit in 2 months starting with $400 isn’t bad!

I think we can all agree that insurance companies make a profit in general on the long run on their policies (otherwise they wouldn't sell them). Why would I give money to the insurance company that I could just keep to myself. So I can bet on myself, or not. I will always bet on myself. And to be clear, Airplanes, boats, houses, cars, none of these are investments. Health care is a bit different, as this isn't a material item....
The only one that I can argue that makes sense is the one that is for the irreplaceable item (the health insurance). The loss on every other one of the items is no more than the cost of the item, that can be replaced at any time. The health care cost (in a worst case scenario) is open-ended, so it logically has different criteria than the other items.

I just wrote the check and was done with it. I would have financed it if they were offering 0% APR like they are on some of the other models.

Was going to pay cash, but got a good rate so financed. Paid off in six months to keep credit score up.

If you have the cash to easily buy any vehicle you want you should be maxing out your IRA every year anyway no matter how you decide to purchase a car.

Why not just buy an older truck and chance it since it's not any investment? If you're betting on you then why the huge push for healthcare? I'm not seeing your point but to each their own. Happy trails fellow member!

What he said. If you have an employer match 401k at work, max out the match. If you don't, look into an IRA, probably preferably a roth. If you can afford that truck, you can easily to save enough to retire at the normal retirement age. Start soon, with retirement savings the younger you start the easier it is.

Why not just buy and older truck? I did, and I kind of broke the bed off my 1st gen that I owned for 5 years and I was ready for something new rather than used for once.

I don't have a big push for healthcare, but in my opinion it certainly is a different animal than other insurance items because of the open-ended costs of healthcare vs the fixed maximum cost of a truck, or house. I am not a fan of any insurance products, as you can see, but that doesn't mean that they are not the best decisions for someone else. In general, it appears to me that insurance is functionally a severely regressive tax, making insurance more critical for the people who are less able to pay for it because they cannot afford to lose the item that is insured.

But insurance, I will absolutely say, is one of the most personal decisions in a person's life. And only hindsight will prove out the best decision, regardless of what anyone's opinion is.

Regardless, here is to hoping that none of us have a need for insurance, regardless if we have it or not...

Finance 100% of both mine and my wife's car. Instead used it to pick up 2 single family homes for rentals and currently making more in rent each month to more than cover the car payments. Win win. People who brag about paying their cars with cash and not owing the "system" always think their shit doesn't stink and its usually annoying. My 0.02 anyways.
