This is in the Cedar Mesa area off Comb Wash Rd in Lower Mule Canyon. It's a beautiful place with lots of open camping areas.

It looks like a huge pain. I haven't even bothered with mine. The annex just sits in the garage.

#bucket list. Beautiful shots and beautiful country. How long was your shutter speed for the Aurora shot?

Not too bad to put an annex up . I wish I could get away with just the rtt but I have my wife and I and our two sons....

Its like the Grand Canyon, No Photo can portray it's vastness ! I looked at every photo I could find on line and it was much better than expected (weather was great, sometimes it's not) .The shutter speed on the aurora shot was 129 seconds ,ISO 200 , F4

With some help, it's not too bad. I only ever use mine when I absolutely need the extra sleeping space. Setting it up alone is a royal pain in the ass, but if you're alone, why bring it? :D

It was a pain since it was my first time but it's not that bad. But yeah only bringing it when I absolutely need it. That annex channel will be a huge help and time saver it looks like because that was the toughest part putting the annex in the channel.

You would think the damn tent would come with it...and with that it's obvious that I'm not in marketing or sales.

From what I understand the parts are interchangeable between the two.

@Steelhead Taco Yeah, this one isn't my thread. I started the one in the 2nd Gen forum, but I can understand how you got me and the OP here confused. I have a Roosevelt quote as my signature. Anyway, great meeting you and checking out your rig, even if it was relatively quickly from a slow drive-by.

Can you post details on your camper? Any more pics? That's a nice setup.

It' a ARE DCU contractors cap that are all custom ordered , that version has the radius front and 90 degrees sides which makes it about 12 inches wider at the top for head room than the tapered ones .Its seems none of the dealers know about it . I found a photo on the expedition portal and thats the only way I found out about them ,That model is the 29 inch above the truck box, I don't think it weighted 200lb when I got it.I insulated it with 1 in. SM styrofoam ,covered the interior with some 1/8 cherry paneling I had ,put L.E.D. Lighting in it and built the plywood slides and storage in it . When we ordered it we got sliding windows with screens on both sides and an sliding window at the front. The front window is meant to open from inside the truck so I drilled out the rivets on the latch and installed it on the opposite side then put a screen on the outside for more bug free ventilation . I also put some extra aluminum on top ,the pipes for quick attach fly tarps and an sheet on 1/8 checker plate aluminum so I could put anything up there. WE spent alot of time figuring it out before I ordering it to make sure it would work and I had the footprint of the unit taped on our living room floor carpet most of last winter.
The space between the slide boxes is just wide enough for my feet with hiking boots and there is a sliding plywood cover that is 1/2 the length of the box .Slide it forward when you want to get in ,sit down or get changed ,slide it back when you go to bed. The finished height inside is 46 1/2 inches ,the box height was figure out so i could sit on it and if I sit up really straight my head just touches the top .I'm about 5-7 and my wife is 5-6 .
When you are inside you can access the front 1/3 of the sliding boxes from the top ,as the cover folds forward and thats where we stored our clothes .I have no pic's when it's open yet.
The mattresses are just foam that we cut to fit and refit the covers .As you see by the pic's we taped the poly back on that they came with because I had concerns the dust may get in because the truck box is hard to seal up.As it was only a little dust got in. We traveled more than 2200 km(1400 miles)of gravel road on our trip to the Yukon and North West Territories . I also built a step that turns up for travel .
I wanted the whole set up to be fast to set up , stop anywhere ,self contained,go anywhere . And because it doesn't look like a camper you can literal stop almost anywhere and camp .My wife and I spent three weeks on our trip ,no restaurants and only six campgrounds . And We didn't kill each other!! haha
It was a great trip .

we traveled around 650 km (425 miles) on the North and South Canol ,roads like this . Road was built during WWII for oil, but then abandon it shortly after
