Saban's leadership abilities are unrivaled in at least college football. I feel it may be possible that his influence within the locker room hasnt spread to the citizenry of Alabama. Saban has influenced his players to have a "Dominate" mentality. It is quite possible that Saban's influence has actually penetrated the fan base as well. He's created buy in with players, and fans alike.

 

I dont think Alabama should be included if they arent even in the SECCG.

When this playoff started, I didnt think a team should be in it unless they won there conference. (I still dont...really.)

Seems simple enough to just move to 6 teams in the playoff.

P5 conference champions with 1 at large.

Top seed plays at large.

all works out. Most are happy.

This places importance on strength of schedule, record and regular season. (even more so if you just have a P5 bracket with the 1 seed getting a bye first week of the playoff).

the only issue I have with that, is you may have a CC that has 3 or so losses, and could you really say they deserve it more than a 1 loss P5 team that didn't get in to the CCG because the 1 loss they had was to the team that won the CCG? I know it's been beat to death but there really should be a top 8 and that's what it should be, the 8 best teams, not just the teams that happened to be a little better than most of the teams they played, or just better than the last team they played of the regular season.

Actually, while I was glad to see Bama in it, the only reason they were, is because they lost to LSU, who was in...and all the other teams that year that were vying for the NCG, lost. In that system of ranking, it just worked out. Was it valid? I don't know. The argument gets tossed around that the two best teams in the nation were in the game.


I think Alabama benefited from losing one week earlier than everyone else.

I wont deny that it did kinda feel dirty...and still does. Also, it created this massive hate for the SEC.

 

I believe the game caused the playoff, to an extent. Do I side with the argument of "you already lost you shouldn't get a second chance"? yes I do. like I said earlier the record is 1-1 between the 2 that year, so who's better? November: LSU, January: Alabama. Just because of the timing Alabama gets claim to the title. That's one of the ONLY times I'll ever say a shared title is understandable, but I don't claim it because LSU couldn't win on the field that day. That's my only argument to rematches...you don't prove who the better team is that year. I would argue LSU because they were able to run their table, but Alabama needed a month off to beat LSU. Just my .02

 

I mean, I can empathize with that side of the argument, but as the saying goes, "win when it matters...."

I completely expected to lose big time to LSU that year in the NCG.

If I remember correctly, Alabama's slate that season was unbearable. I'm not sure of the stats, I could look it up, but I'm a lazy Alabama fan...so, I'll proceed but with caution.

Something like 4 weeks in a row of SEC foes who all had a bye week before playing Alabama?

lol I agree with the win when it matters, that's why I'm saying I'm good with the not-shared title (I only know 1 team that claims imaginary didn't win titles *cough cough*) hahaha.

also to the schedule argument, I hear (and am pretty sure you said it earlier) all the time "the schedules are made out way ahead of time so who knows how the teams will be", so I have no sympathy for the bye weeks before Alabama...that could've been just the week the team wanted regardless of the opponent following. I know Alabama fans like to say it was simply because they were the next team on the schedule, but where's the concrete evidence for that?

 

The only teams & fans that like the current college football system, are 0 - 1 loss teams.

There have been (10 or so) NFL wild card teams that make it to the super bowl, and some win it. Many scenarios make this possible, take the example from this thread- Bama vs FSU...where QB is injured. If the player(s) return later in the year, now the team is playing & winning.

College football should decide the championship on the football field, not in a closed door conference room with people voting. Give us (every one with 2+ losses) a break.

We (college football) need a true championship decided by an inclusive playoff. It must be far more than this thread is conceding to. You need 20-24 teams, this will include most 2-3 loss teams.

I love how everyone brings up "claimed championships" but don't consider natty's that should have been awarded....lolololol.

 

lol I couldn't care less about NC's that other teams have, claim, or deserve. LSU has 3, that's all I care about. I just don't understand how teams can be like "we got dis one cuz dude dat wrote da paper said we iz number 1 even tho we lost da game!"

Georgia fans, how is yalls pass rush/sacks?

Statistically speaking it has been very non-existent. Yall are ranked 72nd in sacks a game. Is it because the QBs get rid of the ball a lot faster? Usually a team that is always wining or in the lead has a better chance to rack up the sacks. Is it as non-existent as the stats show?

Reason for asking Stidham is absolutely atrocious when he is pressured all game. If you do not get pressure on him he usually finds an open receiver.

 

It’s been night and day. Some games they’re getting after it then others we’re like where is our pass rush? But if it’s on look out.
