Relationship and finance advice from the Mayor of Titty City? :D <3

I didn't say buy the ring right now mang, I know hes buying a house. Im just saying rethink his situation and offer a compromise. Unless of course he can afford it and hes got that cash tucked away for another AR.

I agree. If I could I would buy my wife anything she wanted. However she would never ask for $18,000 of jewelry. She would ask for a new motorcycle, a bunch of work done to her truck, stuff done to her house like upgrades, work on the 71 Bird or the 48GMC, stuff that's actually useful. My wife finds jewelry to be a waste of money and that makes me happy because we both think jewelry is useless.

For the record her engagement ring was $400 and she thought I spent way too much on it.

I have bought some jewelry for Gaia and she wont wear expensive stuff. The few things ive given her have been stones in basic silver settings and one antique ring. Nothing ever over 50$.
But, I did buy her an antique sewing machine and table for her bday, and a hand carved easel before that. Stuff I know she cherishes and one day when we get a bigger place she will have her own hobby room for.

Being single for a while is probably why I have like 20 grand worth of guns in my safe... best savings plan ever.

I'm of the mind that if both parties agree on whatever is being spent it's all good. Some couples want to give each other expensive things, some don't.
    Whatever floats your goat.

When I was looking for engagement rings I went into the jewelry store and they started giving me the whole, "three-months salary" pitch. I laughed and told them that if I spent three-months salary on my wife's engagement ring she'd beat me to death with it.

But, on the other hand, when she wanted to spend $1,500 on a Kirby vacuum cleaner because her parents had had a Kirby vacuum cleaner and ever since she was a little girl she had always wanted a Kirby vacuum cleaner just like theirs, I said, "Okay, let's spend $1,500 on a vacuum cleaner!" She may be a freak, but she's my freak. :)

Ohhh here we go with the voice of reason!

    :D

For the record, I spent a fair amount on the engagement ring and I have spent countless thousands of dollars on shit I don't care about making this already badass home even more badass because that is what she wants. End of the day, whether you like it or not, it will always be about her. If you disagree, 50% of everything says you're wrong.

Just playing devils advocate here.... Do you live in said house and use said things? Did she not help pay the bills while you were unemployed? And I'm sure the $4,400 dollars is a relative drop in the bucket compared to the firearm collection. Nevertheless, I am certainly not telling you how to live your life nor spend your money.

I'm sure that there is more to it than what has been said, but as far as jewelry goes, a grand is getting off easy.
