This might be a dumb question.... I have a 6spd, how fast do I go before i change to 6th gear thanks

as fast as you want... preferably before the tach redlines.

 

It all depends whenever you want when I am trying to save fuel I'll put it in 6th gear at like 40 the truck has enough power to do it and plus its my baby so I take it easy on her. and def on the highway. pretty much I am in 6th gear as soon as i can unless I am going like 20 but if I am cruising back roads I use it and on the highway I dont know its really your call hope this helped

 

Same way you know to change from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 4th to 5th.

No no no, you misunderstand how a manual trans works. You start from 0mph in the HIGHEST gear, not the lowest. Start in 6th.

My auto doesn't have a 6th gear so I don't think you need yours either.

R means race. So when you hit redline in 6th, drop it into Race to blow their doors off.

 

No. way too fast. Play around with it, find out the shift points where it doesn't lug and shift there, unless you want to use extra gas.

 

Alright man we're just playing around. But seriously, I don't have a manny in my truck. All the sticks I've driven its different. Just gotta feel and hear the engine. It all depends on how you are driving too. Just get a feel for it in a safe place.

You can be in 6th by 50.

 

I usually shift my gears around 2k unless I'm loaded or going up a steep incline. Sometimes I'll rev to just under 3k and skip a gear. Hope that helps. In the manual though, it does say to shift to the highest gear as quickly as possible to conserve fuel.
