They do this right now! I just built a TRD Sport Access Cab an Double Cab automatic. Look at the price difference for the Premium and Technology Package.

and where does it show that the 2 different pricing is for the same package code?

no one uses the same package code with different configurations internally. how the heck do you expect to tell what is installed?

that's like saying its an SR5 but internally its either a 4x2 or 4x4. there is a reason why everything has a different code to tell the difference between features.

either way, the average consumer is going to flip when you tell him it cost 2700 for PQ and 570 for PQ on practically the same 2 trucks.
lol ok so how are you going to track the nuances of the PQ package between 20 models?

A 7128 PQ is different from a 7172 PQ and therefore has different prices.

I don't think you understand, how to you have a option/package code stay the same when internally the pieces that make it up constantly change.

if that is the case, why have 20+ model codes when we can only have 1 model code for a Tacoma and change it internally depending on what we have in the truck?

Are you trying to tell us that the PQ is the same price for a Prius, Sienna, Tacoma, and Tundra??

Bottom line a DBCB and AC are not really the same truck, moonroof, sliding windows.... PQ varies from model to model EVEN in domestics. I am quite sure the PQ in an F150 is not the same as the PQ in a Towncar.

Now that I look at it, this would make sense for the build sheet. Look at the Spec column. So based on Model # and Option Code it tells you which "Spec" numbers are to be installed on that vehicle.

    So 7128 PQ gets: 010H, 014B, 027H, 028D, 030D, 032B, 041K, 044C, 046D, 049G, 065B, 066B, 068C, 078D, 114D, 118C.
That is the PQ Package for model 7128 which is different from 7560 and 7559 listed below.
    7559 PQ only gets: 044C, 065B.

ok last post on this subject. as an example when its the same package but different Toyota creates a unique package/option code to ensure no confusion.

good example is the tech package from previous years :

    the old tech package had

HG ($1480) for access cabs no jbl
HH ($2360) for double cabs no jbl

FP ($3065) for double cabs, no manuals has jbl

so when you ordered a truck with the FP option you always knew exactly what came with it. the contents of the package never change whether you bought an OFF ROAD or SPORT you know it had the JBL sound system in it.

so if we take this same concept to the PQ package and it has JBL in it ....

so now if I have one model code I have JBL in the PQ package, but if I order this same package in another model I don't get JBL even though the PQ package in this other model had JBL. how much confusion is that going to cause the average consumer.

Agreed, it is confusing but the documents from Toyota are what they are.....
Based on what we saw today, the package pricing is different for the different models as they all do not get the same goodies even though the name of the package is the same. And my build of a 2017 shows the same name of the package and different cost based on model. My last post on this as well.

now the only logical solution I can find is related to the old OC/PY codes which were placeholders for the off road and sport package and actually didn't have a cost to them. if the OF is now the new OC code and the PQ is the new PY code then I can understand and they are just a no cost placeholder for ordering.

and the cost shown is the price increase on the base model cost msrp

so the 7128 base cost is 32145 but you add the PQ option and the base price for that model increases based on the model?

so it jumps either low side of $570 up to 2735 depending the base model ?

its a different concept of getting more money per vehicle compared to the old way, which means the normal way of calculation below invoice/msrp is going to be way off unless you compensate for this slight of hand.

And they way they have priced it makes it difficult to put a finger on the true cost per item if you try and compare cost based on model. Very creative on their part...

this is going to be a nightmare to sort out in the master thread if they have variable pricing within a model code package option

Certainly confirms all of the colors and packages that have been discussed for months.
