Yes thats what I have seen from other members running 4.56 but a lot people keep installing them on their trucks, I guess they don’t care about high revvs in their Engines, I though 4.30 was a better option than the 4.56, I can always upgrade to 35s and get closer to stock

    Mostly stock on 35s
Keep in mind the front 4.30 gearset is a “thin” ring gear and will need a different carrier than stock, non issue if you are already planning an ARB you just have to order the correct one.

I'm running 4.56 on 33s. But I've got armor and shit. Therefore heavy.

    Just for reference: V6 Auto

Long term the goal was 35s.

Edit: OP is Manual so my info is useless. LoL

I’m planning to get the already assembled 3rd member and clamshell. One of the guys over ECGS Told me all I need was a rear factory E-locker and I was good to go, unless I misunderstood him, I specifically asked him about the 4.30s for my tacoma specifications. :/

I was under the impression that ECGS sent all all rear 3rd members with an E-locker?

There are all sorts of gearing calculators all over the internet. Basically spreadsheets that you choose your stock gearing and the tire size you changed to and follow the numbers bears to where you want to be with your new gearing.

A little google and you will find everything you are looking for.

Also, is that MPH a gps or via the truck, if its via the truck its reading low due to bigger tires. (speed is read at the wheel speed sensors and not at the trans, so gearing does not effect measured speed)

The Choir has been spoken to.

It’s an UltraGauge and it has been speed calibrated. Confirmed by GPS and Police radar trailers.

    There’s a reason I did not photograph the tach/Speedo.

Boom. perfect. Thats actually a good reference for the OP. 4.56's on 33s at a true 75mph in an auto.... OP's truck will be spinning a bit faster with only the 0.85 OD gear vs the 0.72 of the auto. In fact it would be right around 3050-3100 rpms at 75 true mph with 4.56's and the 6mt.

more revs = engine working less.. @stairgod

I have full skids/sliders, bumper w/swingout, bedslide, 33s and 4:56s. They are good for trails, not highway. IMO city driving will be better, highway will suffer.

I never go over 75, but my RPMS are around 3k at 75, if I remember.

Rear E-lockers come from factory on the TRD OR models if i dont mistake, some people without lockers can add aftermarket locker like ARB is the add on option from ECGS when buying the 3nd assembly, is pricey tho!

thats why im looking at the 4.30s, in the future i can always go with 34 and get a descent performance on the street and highway.

I thought OP has manual trans. Kyitty has auto trans. Not a good reference if that's the case.

My buddy had the 6 speed and 33s and it was perfect with stock gears

I would not waste the time/money to regear if I was you.

I’m running a auto, stock gears, and 35s and it doesn’t even bug me that much

I'm on 33s and stock gears in my V6 4.0.

I want to regear, but I'm not going to do it until I'm ready for lockers. I plan to pick up a 4.10 3rd from a 4 banger, then pull the trigger on a locked 4.10 clamshell from ECGS. The compressor is already in the truck. I'll get around to locking the rear when I can afford it after that.

None of this is happening soon.

It sounds like you would be happier with the 4.30, OP

Trucks sold but yeah it had plate rear plate front...not sure about loaded.

If you don’t mind the cost and high rpm then it won’t be so bad. On my 1st gen the high rpm kinda bothered me.
