Anybody with a 2016+ experienced battery issues yet? Had my 2016 with 44K miles for a month and it looks like battery is done. Still need to validate that tonight after work but 2 days in a row no start just the rat tat tat of the starter solenoid. I thought it was because I left the headlights on instead of auto but after a full charge last night no start again this AM. I am able to jump start so all signs point to battery. Just had 45K service last friday with a clean bill of health :(

Called dealer and no warranty of battery past 3 year/36K new battery is $129 with 84 months prorated warranty.

Just curious if anyone else's has failed yet. Mine is a Texas truck and the summer heat is brutal on batteries in general.

Mine went kaput at just under 13,000 miles. Dealer replaced it under warranty although it took 1 1/2 hours after checking to see if there wasn’t any shorts in the system.

Toyota OEM batteries are hit or miss. If you have to pay out of pocket I would just get one elsewhere.

    This.

If you are a AAA member include them in your pricing. 6-year warranty (3 years free replacement/3 years prorated) for $135 on a '16 Tacoma

My service guy is out today but I spoke to another and he said he would be able to do something for me. At least cover the $20 install, I told him if not I would install myself. I'll see what they are willing to do, if nothing may just head to O'Reillys, I've had good luck with their battery warranty.

My battery tested as a fail very early, within 18 months of purchasing the truck. Dealer replaced for no charge.

As someone who deals with Interstate batteries on the daily, get a Optima.

Crazy! I have had great luck with Interstate for a long time.

    What changed?

Well, I should've been more specific. Interstate batteries through Toyota are good but ONLY if you get the TrueStart, the True-2 is complete garbage. Since we've switched exclusively to TrueStart's from True-2's our amount of warranty replacements has gone down by about 85-90%. No battery is impervious to the cold but we DEFINITELY prefer the former to the latter.

God no, please don't buy a piece of shit made in mexico Johnson Control battery aka Optima. I have yet to have one actually make it past its warranty.

You want a legit battery? East Penn Deka wipes the floor with JC, Exide, etc. Made in America

I have bought nothing but Interstate batteries for the last 39 years. I have had no issues with Interstate. But then again I change my battery out every 5 years instead of waiting for them to go bad.

There have been reports of a bad cell on batteries here in that time frame. Seems like it was a manufacturing issue.
Bet your voltage reads around high 10 volts.

Mine is a Texas truck and my battery died within a year. When I went in for my 10K maintenance, they had to replace the battery. :(

Did you have any sudden drops in temps lately? Cold snaps seem to like to kill OEM batteries, the ones they're replaced with under warranty are the Interstate TrueStart which is the good one of the two Toyota offers.

I'm at 8 years on the Optima Yellow Top in my Pilot. The one in the previous vehicle was at 5 years when I sold the car. Did their quality drop recently?

How long were the lights on? If they drug the battery below about 11.8 volts it would have damaged it.

I'm 21,000 miles into my battery and it's fine.

This is why I started a habit of manually shutting off the lights each time I turn off the engine.

edit:forgot I turned this feature off when I was tweaking the settings since I thought about and hadn't been doing it lately, DOH!
