You just don't get it I guess.

Look at the 2 base models you're comparing, that's ridiculous. Compare the same trim to the same trim to make it fair.

2017 SR5 4Runner is 36k (which is the cheapest trim)
    IMG_1362.jpg

2017 sr5 Tacoma 26,6k (this is the 2nd cheapest Taco trim)

    So about 10k difference.

    :frusty:

Now look at the$1000 price jump from sr5 to trd off road in the 4runner compare that to the price jump of a sr5 Tacoma to a trd off road Tacoma. See?

You're also comparing an access cab Tacoma to a full 4 door SUV.

I can see this is pointless, have a good night

Did I not compare the same trims?

To be fair, there's not a 2 seater 4runner. The jump seats in an access cab aren't really seats. I'd at least compare the double cab to make the point.

But I don't think there is any comparing the two, apples and oranges. My posts are in response to some one saying there is not much of a price difference between a taco and 4Runner.

I'm not saying one is not a better value over the other, honestly no manual trans in the 4Runner is a deal breaker for me, and the biggest reason I don't have one.

Neither did I. But nice family vehicle, if they had a manual option.

They are the same price for models talked about this thread. Off road vs off road. It's this hard to understand? Apparently so

What were the situations when you used your OR features?

I've been in really hairy situations with the Sport, but I have yet to need the lockers. I semi feel like i missed out, but I still haven't needed it. End of the day, I have my cumalong to get me out where a locker could help.

    Like, so many.
Is that the most aggressive 4H option?

    YES:
There are three options for traction in H4 (2012 + models):

    1) No traction control: VSC OFF MODE (stop, press, hold in VSC OFF button 3+ seconds).
    2) Light traction control: Standard Mode, called TRAC.
    3) Stronger traction control: TRAC OFF MODE (quick press of the VSC OFF button, moving or stopped).

The OFF word in TRAC OFF means that engine output regulation is turned off. So, TRAC (traction control) without engine regulation (throttle cut).

I'm pretty new at this so I'm sorry if this seems elementary, but would you mind giving an example of when you should use each option?

    Sure!

    A) TRAC is the normal/ standard mode your truck is in without pressing anything (H2 and H4). So this is your place for most driving.

    B) TRAC OFF (called AUTO LSD in H2) with the quick push of the button is for when you try to drive and you have tire(s) spinning. This is the stronger level of limited slip.

    C) VSC OFF is something I never use beyond testing. It turns off traction control (and stability control) putting your truck back to pre-2009 or earlier times... It allows the tire(s) to spin freely and keeps you stuck right there! Toyota has this mode for snow conditions if your tires need to be cleaned-free by spinning them and then try to grab fresh snow. Kids like this mode to do donuts in parking lots (dumb)!

Edit: If you haven't read up on these... when you restart the truck, the setting return to standard TRAC. Also, by pressing the button again it resets to TRAC. If you are driving unsafely in VSC OFF MODE, it will go back to TRAC to prevent a rollover and lawsuit!
When the VSC or TRAC is working, you do get lights and beeps to alert you to either calm down your driving or let you know the system is working.
