    All kidding aside I would be far more worried about a CME. It has happened before, it will happed again. If the Carrington Event happened today society would be negatively impacted.
    As far as vehicles operating after a EM pulse there have been experiments, results were not conclusive. Some say if the vehicle is not running during the pulse it will be OK. Others indicate everything will be toast.

    A few additions to make me feel cool.
    The one flaw in your plan so far is lack of bullet proofing yourself and said name bike! I know a guy that spent 5k on a solar well pump. He was like "bro you want to get one too" I was like no I have access to one much cheaper if I ever need it. Only cost about one round of ammunition.
