    Hey guys,

I searched around the forum and found rattle issues at low rpm and reverse but nothing at wide open throttle. Just installed my TRD (old non CARB) CAI on my tacoma and its rattle city at 4500+... I tightened the box down really well... the tube, everything.

Is there a known area that rubs causing this rattle or is that the sound its supposed to make? I have had quite a few intakes on other vehicles and it has never been like this... It does sound amazing though when you get on it. :)

    Thanks for any input!

i just installed mine and i get this new vibration when it gets up around 4000+ or so i think its from the sound not the motor actually vibrating i know with my silverado with duals the sound would vibrate and you could feel it in the pedal under acceleration so i wasnt alarmed when i got a vibration in the pedal from the loud intake noise the trd intake creates.

Yeah pretty similar I guess. Mine feels like its vibrating through the fender or some crap into the cabin... idk, maybe i'll go triple check my bolts.

im pretty sure their fine but if it will give you peace of mind then by all means check them. all the new vibrations are coming from the sound of the intake because there arent any air silencers or extra filters to quiet this loud v6

Not sure if you noticed or not, but when you remove the stock intake, you lose the intake resonator. This helps in quieting any noises occurring in the intake. I still have the stock intake but just throwing out some info.

Um, I realized that. I tightened a bolt on the box and most of the vibration went away...figured out the prob. Thanks guys..

So I am undecided if I like the sound. It sounds great at 3500 rpm + but kinda gurgly (idk?) at 1500-2000 rpm... Is the AFE Pro Dry filter quieter?

Don't kill the gurgle! The MOST satisfying sound for me from the CAI/Catback combo is that gurgle when the valvetrain shuts off after you come off a low speed acceleration.

I'd say get a good catback (or preferred muffler, some on here will recommend) put in and see how you like the two together.

It almost sounds like its popping lol...*put put put put put* when the engine is dragging in a high gear on my auto... is that normal? haha..:)

See, I come from having bimmers where the intake systems are quiet as heck till you step on it and the Vanos (sorta like VVT-i) kicks in..

I'm thinking of a TRD catback someday...

Not sure...mine sounds more like an angry animal swallowing a growl...if that makes any sense...it's definitely a smooth gurgle.

Yeah low RPM, right after you completely let off the gas...I *love* that sound.

mine does when I am on the gas or under load...interesting. And barely audible at 60-65 mph freeway speeds.
