I’ve been in 2 different unions; one for 7 years, one for 3. They’re currently in contract negotiations since we’ve been without one since July 1. Regular raises are nice and when shit hits the fan, representation is key. I’ve never been jammed up so I can’t say if their lawyers are worth a damn...

 

Bleh. Between waking up too early today, the cold, the rain, and general B.S., this was by far the shittiest Monday I've had in quite a while

 

We don't get it often, but it comes often enough!

 

Our contract also ran out in July. Company wanted us to sign for the second time a 1 year extension of previous contract with no change. Employees voted no. So company retaliated with 18 layoffs. We’ll see what happens next.

 

We are non union here at this plant but we adhere and follow union pay scales and contracts of our northern union plants.

 

Got my longfield chromos in today.
120 degrees of twist and can withstand 4k lb/ft of torque.

 

In 4 of 5. Really not feeling people's bullshit today.

 

We got hit hard yesterday at the all employee meeting.
30% of all salaried employees got the chopping block. The remaining 70% have to reapply for the same job they already have.
Temps are gone, shutting down 3rd shift.
Hourly seems safe as of now for atleast 6 months.

Forgot to mention yesterday was the start of 10 consecutive nights working before back to back 4 day weekends. I'm stoked for that.

 

Damn man, that’s tough. What’s your industry? Things have been extremely slow in the northeast. I know the stocks looks great but it really feels like things are not going very good right now. Maybe things are just artificially inflated right now.

Schenectady took a huge hit as well.
My shift coordinator (friend) with 21 yrs is getting bumped to 2nd shift. The 2nd shift shift coordinator with only 3 yrs.....gets to keep his job because they are eliminating most all of 3rd shift and 1st and 2nd are not affected.

 

ouch, that really blows. Im concerned for the future of the airline industry, the market is just so oversaturated, and nobody has made any major improvements in any areas that matter. its only a matter of time before we start seeing airlines close their doors again. Plus, the pilot shortage issue is going to become a problem at some point, and either the FAA is going to have to do something to make it easier to get commercially certified pilots, or theres going to be a massive reduction in air travel and air cargo capacity.

 

Years ago GE had a big plant in Utica NY where I grew up and I remember that parking lot full three shifts a day and then just two shifts a day then no shifts a day. Sad.

 

GE has been having a tough few months it seems. Stock is taking a dive. One report I saw said they might have to do away with dividends to pay debt.

We just bought 6 GE engines here at work 2500hp & 3650hp hopefully that helps the cause.

Thoughts?

 

Extended braided brake lines.

 

I'm only gonna lift it 2" - 2.5" maybe.

I shouldn't need brake lines for that, should I?

 

I'll say this from a 1st gen prospective.
A) Yes, I absolutely needed extended length lines even though I barely wheeled.

B) Stainless braided lines offer a ..I won't say huge performance adavantage. But you can definatly tell a difference in braided lines over rubber hoses.
