sand paper is a bad idea, it gouges the metal and thus leaves edges for carbon to build up on causing the same issue, the recommended method is to only use a micro fiber cloth or use what I use which is a brass bristle brush, the brass bristles aren't rigged enough to gauge the metal but give u a better clean then just the cloth. don't use a regular rag with cotton in it cuz it will leave behind little pieces on the flame sensor which will burn to the sensor and also give a good surface for carbon to build up on

 

Whoops, oh well! If it fails I'll have the landlord pay for it. I already saved them the hassle this time since I fixed it myself.

 

honestly it will probably be fine so I wouldn't worry too much haha at least u used a fine grit sand paper haha I love getting dirty flame sensor service calls lol easy peasy pay me buy hahaha
