There's a museum of sorts there that has interesting info and displays, and you can climb the old tower. They talk about some of the stuff build for ID still being out there (camera tower). But the bigger thing is the history. That's where WW2 bomber training was, and it was like the largest airbase in the country at the time. Still has the pits used to load atomic bombs, and that's where all the Enola Gay testing/training was. They're working on restoring the hanger for it for a full museum.

Yeah, but you can be too smart for the job too. I've met plenty of licensed PEs who couldn't change the oil in their car or other 'simple' things. Just depends on practice and experience and what you deal with. Hell, as a landscape architect I was trained to do grading, yet the civil engineers had no coursework on that at all. Guess what they do the most, and who can usually stamp grading plans and who can't? :p

Also, inspectors are through the lender, not the realtor. And some lenders have really specific items. For example, peeling paint will kill a... HFA? (my acronyms are jumbling) loan. Peeling paint could mean exposed lead based paint or asbestos, and kids eat paint chips, so...

If I recall my former roommate's system was about that when they bought their place. Somewhere in the $900-1k range.

Sure, no one can possibly know everything and some people are highly specialized and pretty much lose sight of the bigger world that doesn't matter in their view (this is a major frustration I have with engineers and trust me, I'm in welding school right now and am thoroughly humbled). But she's a structural engineer with an architecture masters and I'm an EE and have seen complete bull trying to be pushed. We get inspections because they are required but suffice to say when there's a question on something important we ask one of our professional friends or get in a contractor for an opinion. We passed on one house because of a very obvious issue missed by an inspector that was plain as day to anyone who's ever designed or built a foundation in Colorado. And it didn't take a genius to figure out where to look just based on the desiccation cracks. Another had this elaborate report but missed a critical electrical ground issue that was dangerous. Perhaps an inspector doesn't need to know the NEC but they should at least know how to read a 3-wire outlet tester.

I'm more interested into the lightsaber mod. Would be great to block bullets and cut through walls, how satisfying
