VW t1 and t2 are pretty simple to work on. As a matter of fact you have to work on them. Stay for away from t3 and t4.

I have spent way too much time working on them in the past.

I'm not buying one any time soon. Don't have the money for it. But I've always wanted one. Maybe one day when I win the lottery.

Yeah, as simple as it gets. Gap your points, gap your valves, fine tune the timing, and balance your carbs once a month and they'll run forever!!

I really only wanted it to cruise around the beaches with and go surf with it. One day when I'm old and rich

I was lucky growing up. My uncle owned Laguna Canyon Porsche/VW. He was one of the first authorized dealers in California. I have ridden in or drove in most. My all time favorite car is the 1959 356 "Continental".

My dad has a 56' European (even more rare) in the garage.... beautiful vehicles! Hopefully getting restored by the end of 2018.

I wish I was able to share photos of a collector out in Houston who has a warehouse full of all white, all original, all with under 1k original miles, Porsches. A rich guy with a weird white Porsche fetish. I go out there once a year to his warehouse to check out all his new vehicles. I did a rough estimate last time I was there and he had over 500 million in white porsches.... ducking insane!! He has models I never knew existed

    Lmao! I've noticed the trend.

Can't wait to make it to meet (hopefully in dirt) and put faces to all these names.

I know a guy in Idyllwild that has a bunch of rare ones 550 spyders, 356 carreras (4valves), Kubelwagens, a 1949 356/2 (aluminum body) about 10 speedsters and a bunch of rare ass VWs. He is a trippy guy. Your dads is rad. Very impressed. I like the Continental because of the fancy shit they put on.

The biggest/most enthusiastic collectors are always in the most random areas. It cracks me up.

He talks to no one about his collection at all. The only reason I know him is because he has seen me grow up. Hot VWs and VW trends have been wanting to take pictures of his shit for years. I used to go to the swap meet with him all the time. He knows his shit for sure. My neighbor here in Laguna is a collector also and wrote a book on 356. Ask your dad if he has this one.

Exactly. The difference it’s really that big of a deal. Most people on here get new wheels and tires, locker, suspension and bumpers. What’s the point of an OR if you’re going to do all that?
