Turbo BS Thread

I hear all of you right now- had to get a root canal/crown that I wasn't planning for, plus I'm fighting with a hesitation when I go WOT or close to it at lower RPM. I completely removed the AEM FIC for troubleshooting, but the issue still persists and I can't recall if it was there prior. Going to clean the MAF/TB this weekend while I'm away, and I'll check my coils, as they're 110k and original. Plugs are new as of 92k. Fuel pump/filter are original (or at least to me, as I bought it certified Pre-Owned with 65k on it). No CEL, no real indication via Torque, either.

Edit/Side note: If I decide to change the pump, I'll go with the URD kit and the AEM E85 pump!

Maybe that's the stock 'lag' built into the drive by wire? I notice it holding back throttle response when banging through the gears. Does the FIC control DBW?

I've done both. Thru-and-thru to built by a machinist. It just depends on the specifics of the build.

 

I wouldn't call it lag, considering it feels like a misfire almost. It's like a hiccup in the low RPM, then it'll clear itself out after it does it once in each gear. If I roll into the throttle, it won't do it. The AEM only taps the TPS sensor, doesn't modify the signal in any way. I've been reading some threads about others with this issue, and it seems to end up being either a dirty MAF, bad fuel pump, or bad coil(s). The only other thing that's changed is I went to 93oct from my normal gas station (I always buy 87 though), then immediately disconnected the battery while I was doing the FIC install.

 

That is a feature of the stock throttles operation.

 

Crap gas perhaps? Or refinement of tune? Possibly both?

 

Have you ever done a write up of the one you did yourself and the cost vs the machinest and cost like a side by side comparison on cost per performance added? Or is it thown somewhere is the million comments in your thread?

 

Maybe the open loop map needs some adjusting? Could be stutter from over fueling too fast when stabbing the throttle

 

The AEM is not installed, truck is 100% back to stock for troubleshooting purposes right now. I'm almost leaning towards crap fuel, which I should be able to rule out by the weekend, as I'm going up to my vacation home 200mi each way, so I'll be able to full up and continue testing everything. Torque logs don't show anything irregular, all my fuel and ignition trims are all perfect.

doesnt sound like a fuel pump issue. the time i had a pump issue it was more like a low rpm redline, the engine wouldnt rev up past a point anymore when full throttle. it would though half throttle

 

Are you guys BOV to environment or recirculating?

 

Also, does anyone know the oil pressure at the 2TR-FE oil filter housing pre and post filter?
