ARBs are also made in China from what I have gathered.

If you are mounting to middle-height, don't get a tent with an annex. My first RTT had an annex, and I really never used it even at roof height. In fact, I found it much more claustrophobic since the annex covers your main window. Plus your rtt will be too low to use it. I got rid of mine for a more open view.

The Overland Pros Anza 1400 would work well near a cab because it doesn't have side windows that require spring rods. The rain fly can be rolled up near the cab. Plus it has a thicker mattress which really helps with comfort.

 

What does everyone think about adding a poll to the thread of all the current RTT'S available? It would make it a lot easier for people to find all the brands available and compare and get feedback. @ChamYota

 

I’ve mounted all my personal tents solo and remove them after use without issue. But for a soft shell tent i just simply flip onto the tailgate, and slide up onto the roof with a towel to prevent scratches

Thanks! That was the same video that was posted on the last page. Just looks like that guy in the videos tent weighs less! I'm not weak, but the ruggedized Tepui is 200+ lbs and I'm assuming it's not as easy as the video makes it look.

 

I 2nd that. The ruggedized is heavy AF

 

my video is pretty much the same just at a different angle, I had a ruggedized tent as well. It really isn't that difficult because you are just flipping the tent over and then one push up onto the rack, using your legs for the heavy lifting

 

I have the Autana ruggedized, and did it myself. It's all leverage. Yes it is heavy but it is not difficult to put up.

 

Yes! Even lifting the corners to get the bolts in the track can be challenging!

That's good to know! I guess I just need to try it. But I did get a quote on installing an 8ft garage door and it wasn't as bad as I thought, so I may also go that route and install another hoist!

probably could have used better form for lifting but thats besides the point. Hardest push is up to the roof, but you only need to push up high enough to where the tent will stay on the roof

 

Ugh, but now I have to buy a sled...

 

I love that fucking sled, everyone always wonders why I bring it with me to mod days or just in use it in general. Its great for sliding around RTTS, heavy objects, to sit/kneel/lay on while working on the truck especially in the dirt/rain/snow. I know the sled may be a deal breaker but you should totally buy one

 

Not a bad idea, especially because it has handles! I use a horrible smelling piece of old carpet.

 

Yoga mats are nice too but they don't slide very well but they clean easy, store easy, and cover a large area. Thats what I usually bring on trips because of how easy it is to store
