New Sliders From Stubbs Welding

Just installed my new sliders from Stubbs Welding. Richard Stubbs makes some incredibly stout sliders and I can’t say enough good things about his customer service, the high quality of his workmanship and his economical pricing. You can see more information on the Stubbs Welding website:

Sliders were $352.00 plus $67.00 shipping from Susanville, CA to Springfield, MO. Total was $419.00.

So far I like the Coopers. I’ve only had them on about 6000 miles. They seem to be a good compromise between a mud terrain and an all terrain tire. Not so aggressive that you have to listen to the annoying hum of mud tire but more aggressive than any all terrain. What sealed the deal for me was the price. 265/75R16 10ply ran $179.00 a piece mounted, balanced, out the door.

Very nice! I've had the HD-SKO on my truck since mid 2009. They protect the truck very well. I'm very happy with them.





DblD, if you wheel your truck in the rocks, take your mudguards off. If you don't the rocks will tear them off!

Looks like your sliders are holding up well. Quick question about your finish… Did you spray paint, powder coat, or other…? I sprayed mine thinking that it would be easier to touch up than powder coat. However I’m a little nervous about how the rattle can finish will hold up over time. Also, if I ever do need to touch them up, I will have to mask off the entire side of the truck to avoid overspray.

I appreciate the warning about rocks and the mud flaps. There has been some talk about mud flap laws in Arizona recently. I’m heading there next weekend for Overland Expo. Local law enforcement has been quick to write citations to generate some much needed revenue. One of the violations has to do with having adequate mud flap coverage for oversized tires. I’m taking the tools necessary for mud flap removal if so required.

Back in about ’92 or ‘93 I had a Toyota Pick-Up (before they were called Tacoma, I think). It had a much more flexible mud flap. I wonder if anyone has ever retrofitted an old style mud flap to a new truck. I’d also like the benefit of the 4WD in stead of the 4x4.
