We're just over a week away so it's time to start discussing...

PLANS FOR NEXT WEEKEND (yes that's my yelling voice) --- timing, meetups, etc.

    SATURDAY
Trails open at 9. Groups should try to be on the trail by 10 if you want a full day. So I'd say meet in the lot 8-930, check in / register, air down, get your groups together, set CBs, and be on dirt by 10 latest. We'll try to stagger departures so that groups aren't up each other's asses.

I highly recommend getting the phone #s of everyone in your pre-determined group well in advance of next Saturday just in case someone is running late or in the event of other issues.

THE WEST PRESERVE CLOSES AT 2 PM, YOU HAVE TO BE BACK ON THE EAST SIDE BY THEN...plan accordingly, as some of the spots at the western-most end do take a fair amount of time to get back east from

ALL TRAILS CLOSE AT 5 ON SATURDAY, YOU HAVE TO BE BACK IN THE LOT BY THEN

We will meet in the lot around 5pm for a full TacomaWorld meetup. Put names to faces, take a group photo, etc. There will be a meal and inevitable shit talking. Refer to earlier posts to see what everyone is bringing for the "feast" but if everyone pitches in we should have a good turnout for everyone to enjoy.

After that everyone can go to their campsite, hotel, house, or wherever it is they may be sleeping. I believe it is @Redmann who is organizing the house which is down the street from AOAA, supposedly it sleeps 16 so we have plenty of room if anyone else wants in.

    SUNDAY
Trails are open the same time, 9-5. Same meetup times, 8-930, try to be on the trails by 10 latest. I'm guessing everyone will have different departure times so convoys can leave whenever, people go on their merry ways. We may need to re-organize groups for Sunday being that some people are only wheeling Saturday, and also since some people will leave earlier than others on Sunday, so we'll figure this all out Saturday at the end of the day or early Sunday upon arrival.

After that...roll out. And start planning the next trip

Sunday night someone should start an AOAA Last Bash picture thread for everyone to dump photos/videos into, would be much easier than putting them all in this thread

    OTHER ITEMS OF NOTE

-It's late enough in the year to be cold and rainy/snowy (maybe even overnight dusting/frost) next weekend. If so this will make the wheeling drastically tougher and will mean both more time spent out of the vehicle and more time cold/wet. Dress accordingly.

-There will inevitably be some people who decide to come last minute (and some who can't make it last minute) who will need groups. If everyone meets up around the same time in the AM it should be easy to figure out who of the stragglers can run with which group or if they can form their own. But the sooner everyone posts when they'll be there and what difficulty trails they want to run, the sooner we can form groups.

-Daylight savings time is upon us and it gets dark in the woods early. Very early if you're behind a mountain. Bring a flashlight and check your headlights. Wheeling in the dark without functional lights sucks. Ask me how I know LOL

-Once your group is formed make sure that at least one person has some decent recovery gear, i.e. straps, a hi-lift, etc.

-Many of the mud pits are deeper than they look...and they do look deep. There's a tale going around of way back before the land was used as an off-road park, it was a just state land, much of which was an unofficial dump (much of which has been cleaned up). Locals would wheel the land and with wheeling comes showing off in the mud pits. Some of them are so deep that another local would sit by the deepest pits with his Unimog, knowing that people would get stuck, and when they couldn't free themselves from the muck he would offer a tow for the nice price of $100. This is no joke; you can easily ruin your day diving into the bad ones. The last thing I want to see is somebody submerge their truck in one of the bottomless pits, but if you're going to try one, at least do us all the favor of getting it on video :bananadance:

-Completing the AOAA waiver online will only speed up how quick you get through check-in, paying, etc. when you get there. You can do so on the AOAA website here:
    http://www.aoaatrails.com/plan-your-visit/check-in-checklist

-Bring extra gas if you think you'll need it. Not a ton of miles will be covered but it is low speeds, frequently in 4WD / 4WD Low, so gas mileage will be shitty.

I'm really looking forward to next weekend. It's a long week away but it should be a damn good time and hopefully everyone is as stoked as I am.

If I missed anything feel free to chime in @Braves95
