Anybody got opinions about Scott Gamblers? Specifically the 730 I think. A nearby shop is basically trying to give one away...I don't NEED one, but N+1...and I feel bad when I take my bronson to Deer Valley / Canyons and just bash on it all day.

We were watching Rampage the other day and I was half-paying attention, probably surfing TW, when my wife asked "What's a Scott Gambler?" I don't remember which rider it was, but hey, "Rampage tested" seems like a pretty good endorsement.

You may want to re-evaluate your fender install on that fork........

I think this thread just helped me make my decision lol.. hard to decide if i should buy wheels and tires or a mountain bike. Think i'm going to go with the bike first before the mods, i'm sure it will benefit me more!

That would be Vince Tupin if I remember right...also, If you have the chance, go to Rampage. It was a blast!

Also, go find Backcountry's "Fanpage" and the "Grompage" after the event at the old site. It puts a ding in your ego when a 9 year old sends it harder than you do. I heard they are changing venues before the next event though...moving to Green River, towards Moab :( More great riding over there, but takes away from the history of the site.

LOL, There's a joke I heard the other day "How do you get a man off drugs? Give him a mountain bike, he can only afford to do one!"

Yeah, it probably was one of the Europeans. You know, my wife loves watching it on TV, probably more than me, so this year I asked if she wanted to go, and she said, no, she'd be too scared to watch in person. One inch is big air for me, and I have trouble finding my pedals just restarting on a hill, so what those guys do is beyond comprehension for me. But, we had some rain overnight and it's drying out now, so I should go ride instead of hanging out here. It's been a long dusty summer.

roger that, you must be running real high pressure so that the fork seals dont jam into it then?

It's funny, watching it on TV was actually scarier than the event because POV shows you how big the features REALLY are. Watching at the event, you are far enough back from most of the BIG stuff that it doesn't quite register the same. Except for the 50ft step-up gap. That looked massive even from afar...

Dude...that gold looks amazing. But you better shred like a hero for a color scheme like that!

I used to live just down the road in Renton, but was before I got into MTB. I lived 10 minutes from Tiger Mtn! :(

DSCN1131.jpg Here are my two bikes. I use a Thule bike rack that I cut down on the lever so that I can lower the tailgate without removing it. Works perfectly now.

Dude, his money his bike. But scratches and dings on downtube do not affect performance. Dings and scratches on the stanchion will lead to damaging seals and eventually fork failure. If you are a real friend you won’t let him do that. Would you limit the travel on the shocks on your tacoma with zip ties? Not only that but puts a ring for dirt and rocks to get trapped to scratch the stanchion which will eventually damage the seals. Dirt will mix with the oil and eventually damage the damper..

Again not my bike do what you want.

Is 5 new bikes in a single calendar year too many?

    1 Cannondale
    2 Santa Cruz
    1 Surly
    1 Transition

I started the year with a goal to acquire one full suspension enduro/trail bike. Instead I replaced a cross bike, plus added two 27.5+ hardtails, a dirt jump, and a fixed gear of all things, and no enduro. I think there is something wrong with me.
