Hey guys looking to get a used tonneau cover for my 97 tacoma extended cab. I found one on Craigslist and the guy said that it was on his 2003 tacoma and is a hinge system not a clamp. He said it won't fit my truck, but I read 96-04 tacoma were the same with the later years having a face lift. My question is will this fit? I forgot to ask him the brand and it's late now, but it has dual locks, one on each side of the cover so I'm assuming it's a top deck brand as I can't find any other brand with dual locks. So my other question is can I find replacement shocks and mounts and all hardware needed for this cover? I've been googling and I can't find a website for top deck so I can't seem to find replacement parts. Anyone knows what all should come with this cover new so I can see what all he has? Thanks!

95-04 reg cab and ext cab have the exact same bed. the double cab is shorter.

if it was a camper/cap then all 3 models are different. but tonneau will work fine.

it might be like mine, Undercover brand. Its ABS with strut lift and "hinged" at the front of the bed.

looks like this but for regular bed

edit: heck, my camper shell was originally from a 97 Tacoma ext cab. it was Blurple in color so I stripped it and repainted to match

It looks pretty smililar to the one you posted, but it's red. It doesn't have a brand on it and he says he bought his truck from the dealer with it on there. The one in your pic doesn't have a brand either so maybe it is undercover. He said one person can pick it up so it doesn't sound like it' fiberglass lol

you can paint the Undercover if you want. it's just rough ABS plastic. they can come painted to mach for a little extra fee of course. it only weighs maybe 50 lbs max, I can carry it easy

I grabbed that pic from Google but it is definitely an Undercover, the badge is on the rear driver's side so it's hard to see.

Ok thanks for the info. So I was looking at the undercover and it doesn't have the soft mat fabric on the bottom of the cover where as the one I'm looking at does. So I don't think it's an undercover. Don't know if I want to go check it out since the guy loves 2 hours away lol

depends on the selling price. $200 or under I would check it out. I drove 2 hours for mine and then another hour to grab another for my brother on the same day.

Do you think it will install over the pendaliner or will that need to be removed?

he's giving you the mounting hardware too correct?

you should be fine with the bedliner, the tonneau sits on top of the rails

my bedliner is UTR so I can't be 100% certain. as long as yours sits flush with the bed rails it will work.

the mounting hardware may not if yours is an OTR (over the rail) type.

Ya mounting hardware is included. Mine is think is over the rail cause bed liner goes over the bed and drops about half inch outside all the way around. Hopefully my explanation makes sense

actually that one is fiberglass with a carpet lining glued on it. since it's only the tonneau it's still not that heavy

you could always paint other things red to match haha. or just save up and paint it yourself.

function over looks for starters. and at that price, hell yeah

Ya I'll probably paint it later on. My paint on the hood is peeling off from rock chips so I've been reading up on how to repaint it myself so once I learn I'll paint the bed cover too

    yep, it does.

so you may have to remove the bedliner altogether, or cut places where the tonneau mounts. they will use clamps that "bite" the underside of the rail. the OTR liners blocks the rail entirely unless you cut them :(
