Although I do agree with the idea of prepping.

To be fair talking to guys at work about it at times and someone who lived through some tough shit. He was in Croatia when the war broke out. We were basically just talking about what we would do if shit hit the fan. All he said is you can prep all you want but in reality it doesn't matter. When shit goes south you can't really do much.

It might depend more so where you live. Maybe in more rural regions it might be different but since we're in a major city no. He said you can try all you want but if the cities go grid lock you're pretty much stuck. Don't think of your car as your way out. You'll get farther on foot.

If it was some sort of pandemic you might be ok with a car. But in a case like this thread a nuclear attack. Ya you're likely better off just hunkering down.

In something like a nuke being outdoors will be even worse.

I still prep but more so for natural disasters. Or if shit is getting ugly. Say a slowly growing riot type thing. I'd be gone before it hits the fan. To be fair it basically just means grab my three totes for camping. Everything is there including water and food for minimum 5 day trips

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand being prepared for natural disasters and other similar type scenarios. Doomsday prepping on the other hand, just cracks me up. Honestly, if any armageddon situation were to occur, I can't imagine attractive women surviving long past the event and that's a world I don't want to live in.

Some people on the other hand seem hellbent on being prepared and ready to kill anyone who looks at them if such an event were to occur. It's almost like they look forward to it happening so they can unleash their inner Negan.

    This.
And like I said above. Come an event line that if you're at work consider the car useless. Grid lock will halt everything.

Think of it during the hurricanes this year. All the traffic getting out of Houston or Florida. Think 50x worse in a doomsday type thing. You'll be better on foot

Definitely an interesting read. Thanks for posting it. I particularly liked this post in the comment section alluding to the physical health of those who think they are prepared, as other posters in this thread have mentioned as well.

I think it would depend on shot placement and range. The one me and my buddy built in H.S. was no joke, blasted clean thru 3/4” sheathing.

Did not read that comment before- I agree with much of it, including the part about people who fantasize about surviving the apocalypse based on watching TV, lol.

    Thanks

Sad part is how many hope for it to just have complete chaos. But really if society is to get through it people would need to not be violent and try and help one another.

No kidding. I wonder if some look forward to such chaos thinking they would have the freedom to do whatever they wish without repercussion, or if some truly think the world would be a better place.

I approve. After you've finished bartering ammo for food and avoided looters, you can hit the links.

I think it's more of a "Red Dawn" scenario for those people, where they imagine heading to the hills and fighting off people and living some sort of adventurous life, when in fact things would be much less "Red Dawn" and much more "The Road".

I think its just cause they have too many guns they don't need and they have this idea they need them to prepare for said event.

Hey if shit hit the fan here I'd be grabbing my cross bow. Not to kill people but to hunt food lol.
Too many see it in the movies thinking it will be the same. Like I posted above I worked with a guy that lived through shit like that when the wars broke out in Croatia. Its not.
