I get so much of this trying to sell my boats. Ive noticed it really only happens if I post my phone number. I dont get any email replys if thats the only option. Guess ill buy a trac phone lol. I always try to offer fair prices to people I want to buy from. Generally if I can get it cheaper online thats what I offer. Still kinda makes me feel bad as i had to walk away from local deals because people wont budge on an obo add.

The latest one I got was a text message asking if said boat was for sail and if so to email them back at a clearly fake email. Because text messages cost them money. Hahahaha

I sold a Honda civic on Craigslist for dirt cheap just because I wanted to get rid of it so bad. It was a 1998 with 160k miles for like $800 bucks. I had to go through so many shady inquiries to find someone who sounded legit. One message I got was at 2 am from someone at a casino and needed a ride. They literally wanted to just buy it then so they would have a ride. It said this in the message....

Glad to see this thread is still live and kicking. Sold some wheels and tires for my roommate the other day, guy seemed nice enough. After he had given me the cash and had loaded up the wheels in his truck, he started trying to look around my garage with "What else ya got in here to sell?" I politely replied, "Are you fucking kidding me? Just because you happen to be picking up a set of wheels from a Craigslist ad, it's not an invitation to start going through my personal belongings in my garage. Get the fuck out of here." Ok, so maybe I wasn't polite. I will never cease to be amazed by stupid people. This is also why I always carry during Craigslist transactions.

:notsure: That doesn't seem like that ridiculous of a thing to ask. At least not one that warrants that type of response. I have loads of random shit laying around that I should probably sell.

Depends on the situation. I certainly don't want a stranger poking around my garage. Too many meth heads around here and my garage has too many things to go missing. I may be paranoid though.

Oh yeah, I DEFINITELY wouldn't let them poke around themselves, or in my garage at all for that matter. I'd tell them what I've got, and then go from there.

There's absolutely no way I'd let a stranger in my garage alone. Hell, I don't let some of my friends in there unattended.

If I have someone coming to the house I will usually tell them to head to a nearby grocery store and let me know when they're there. When they call I'll give them directions to the house, put the item in the driveway, and close my garage door. If they have to come into my garage I make sure the locks on my tool cabinets are prominently displayed. Again, I may be paranoid.

I don't even bother meeting at my house anymore. I have been doing the grocery store parking lot, but am gonna start doing the local police stations parking lot since they're cool with it.

I'm very protective of my tools. When my wife first moved in with me I told her I'd rather have someone steal every electronic in the house than my tools. At that time in our lives if a vehicle broke down and I couldn't fix it, one of us was walking or taking the bus. We couldn't afford to pay a mechanic.

I'll meet somewhere when I can. But if it's a couch or refrigerator or something I don't want to load and unload it from my truck by myself if they show up w/o enough money or decide they don't want it.

Gonna be selling a motorcycle in spring. First time selling on Craigslist. Sounds like it will be an experience.

I was looking to sell a washer and dryer when we moved about 6 months ago. Our new place had brand new appliances throughout. Asked family if anyone needed it first, aunt just wanted the washer. I told her she can have it if I sell the dryer solo, but I'd list the set and see what I could profit. She says that's fine.

    Someone local texts about it:
Buyer: washer and dryer still available? Can I swing by tomorrow around lunch if they are?
Me: Yes. That's fine, I'm off tomorrow so any time works.
Buyer: Ok cool, is noon ok?
Me: yes, noon is fine, just let me know when you're ready to head over and I'll give you the address.

    next day:
Buyer: is it ok to come by in 15?
    Me: sure, address is xxxx

    crickets for 2 hours

Buyer: hey I can be there in 20 if thats ok.
    Me: sure
    Buyer: can I come by
    Me: yes...

    crickets

this happened one more time around 7 P.M. and I didn't bother to respond.

I wound up giving the dryer to one of the movers. He asked why it was being put in the garage instead of installed, I explained the house had a set. He offered $50, I told him to just take it as his tip, which he graciously accepted. Washer went to my aunt.

I absolutely HATE when someone sends a text that just says “bottom dollar.” Makes my blood boil actually. It’s like you cheap bastard, my bottom dollar is the price listed if you gotta ask dumbass. I’m always a little flexible, but never to someone who says the words bottom dollar and hasn’t even asked anything else.

Always a neutral location for me. If the buyer doesn't agree. No dice.

I have had pretty good luck on Craig’s list, I post good pics and include the General part of town I live and the cash only price. I tell them to send there number and I will call them back. If there really interested they will do that.
