For everyone that did the tune using a laptop, I have a MacBook Pro and no Windows 10 OS, looking into jumping on one of those deals that Best Buy has for black friday. Particularly the $99 Lenovo IdeaPad 11.6" with 32GB Flash Memory and 2GB RAM, or the $179 Lenovo 15.6" 500GB HD and 4GB RAM. It would pretty much be used for this tune. Can I run the tune with the IdeaPad or should I just shell out $79 more for the 15.6"? Any minimum specs to run it? @OVTune

I just bought the cheapest laptop from Bestbuy (it was a white Lenovo). Only really need it for this tune (have a Macbook). Worked just fine.

Just make SURE to disable windows defender before doing anything and you’ll be good to go

So many threads and responses to read though. Are we able to tweak the tune once we buy it? Say if we do I take/exhaust mods or eventually FI. Are we able to tune it locally?

Any laptop with windows 10 and a couple of USB ports will work. The tool you use PCMFlash is very lightweight and doesn’t require much system resources.

For our 3rd gens, there isn't a do-it-yourself tune option, however when you buy the tune there is a custom element to it and Mat (OvTune) has stated in the past that if you do future mods, you will be able to request an updated tune to take advantage of said mods. But any new tune files can't be created with this kit independently, this kit just breaks into the ECU to overright parameters for intake/exhaust/transmission shifting&torque/throttle/timing/etc., so it is quite extensive. Right now we're still in the early days where folks are getting base tunes, but once things stabilize I'd assume the custom stuff will be more palatable. ;)

So if I just purchased yesterday, will I get the 1.02 files or 1.03? or is 1.03 still in development?

Hey can someone help out with what to do now that I just got my kit in the mail? The instructions on the website are outdated, and I've read in the other thread to skip to page 11 but it doesn't make much sense. I've downloaded and installed all the drivers and connected the black USB dongle and the longer cabled dongle and PCMflash just will not recognized the dongle. Page 11 seems to reference tune files already but I have no idea where those would be coming from. Does this tune still require a back and forth with OV to get going? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Sounds good thanks Matt. Is it correct to assume that PCMflash should still be recognizing the dongle? I've tried a bunch of combinations and reinstalls and it's not recognizing anything. I did send you an email regarding this same issue just a few ago with much more detailed information and a screenshot.

@OVTune If you eliminate the learning capabilities of the ECU, dose that mean that the ecu will not be able to learn for winter vs summer fuel blend, hot vs cold temps, high vs low humidity? or is the tranny shifting learning seperate from that?
