Thought the generation one folks would get a kick out of this.

Was heading to the DFAQ on camp Liberty and caught sight of this taco again. It had been nearly 6 months since I last spotted it. I had my cam so I took some pictures for yall.

Sorry, this one is not up-armored.

    Check it, blacked out wheels and window tint;

To be honest besides the up-armored Landrovers, this was the best looking ride on the camp. There was one FJ cruising around also. :D THis thing looks like it could really rage through some sewage mud!

yota= if you put the dots on top of the o and the a, it would mean goodnite Taco in Finnish. I got a kick out of that when my wife saw that picture.

I guess I read that article differently. I understood that the Tacoma took everything thrown at it.
" [FONT=&quot]From these photos we can see that the Tacoma is being used under perhaps the harshest conditions imaginable for a truck and with very heavy loads, and they are apparently being used in combat! There is no greater test for a 4x4 than how it performs in both desert and mountainous conditions in actual combat. While this is the expected norm for any other Toyota it is very impressive to see that even the Tacoma can live up to the Toyota name. And it's nice to see that our troops believe the Tacoma is tough enough to put their own lives on the line with it. No doubt, the Tacomas are holding up despite some questionable design features of the frame and front end."

From other accounts that I've read, the Tacomas did not fare well and they ended up stop using them. The intend was to use a truck that can blend in with the local Hiluxes.. but they wanted the gas powered Tacomas due to greater power and less engine noise.

It seems like all the security contractors use up-armored 4runners, tacomas, and landcruisers. I've taken a look at the front suspension set up on some of those trucks and its pretty beffy.

I don't think it says "GEY" I believe it's a "GFY" as in "Go F*** Yourself."

Just my take on what it looks like.

Thanks for the picks it's really sweet to see the Taco being used by the Military, not to mention they are doing well.

    Good times.

Selling my 96 Tacoma to fund the FJ80 build up.
A friend of mine in SF was telling me a story of them air dropping in with Tacos doing the prework just before the Iraq invasion in 03. All were mild lift on 31" TSL's from a dealer in NC and moved thru Brag. One landed upsidedown ~ oops. The big problem they ran into was in the first few days of the land invasion the SF Tacos were taking friendly fire. They had to ditch them and source (Scavange ~ Hummv's).

My friend was a heck of a guy and a masterful story teller ~
Unfortunatly he passed away doing his job in Afghanistan in 07...

IF anyone runs across a pic of the mentioned military outfitted Taco on Swamper TSL's let me know or please send me a link ~ Thanks..

Yup. I just pulled off the extra letters to make "yota taco" on mine. Was there for the last year before I debaged it

Edit: Shit sorry for the blast from the past. Clicked a link on a recent post and thought it was 2012 not 2010...sorry...too many beers
